Far from being unhappy seeing people protesting against Trump, but I'm curious to know if these multi millionaires celebrities would still hate him if the democratic party was a true leftist party as it should be, with high taxes for millionaires. I think we could have some surprises. Not to diss Aubrey Plaza which is an actress I like btw.

Trump and the GOP call the Dems “the far left”, and us lot here in Europe watch on thinking “far left? WTF are you talking about”?

Trump and the GOP call the Dems “the far left”, and us lot here in Europe watch on thinking “far left? WTF are you talking about”? I can’t remember if it was zizek or chomsky who talked about it, but the American society was indoctrinated for over 50 years to flat out dispose the idea of anything even remotely socialistic so that it’s basically impossible to implement things like universal healthcare because even the people who would profit the most of it like the working class hates the idea of governmental interference. They’re enslaved to capitalism and cooperations and that makes it very easy to discredit people like Bernie sanders as this communist boogie man even though his ideas would help most people. It’s crazy

I’ll be willing Biden to win no doubt. That’s not to say I support him, but for the sake of getting Trump and his mob out, then it’s not even a debate.
I don’t care if he’s no long term answer. Indeed he is not, liberal democracies are going down the pan right now and until there’s a paradigm shift of some sorts, we’re not getting any transformational leader so forget about it for the meantime.
Biden may be a raging free marketeer like all presidents but I refuse to believe the choice between the two is same old same old. Equating the two just severely undermines the active hatred this government has pursued and takes away all nuance. The inflammatory rhetoric of Trump is so bad that there is a legitimisation of hatred and toxicity from his language alone, and it’s been proven his choice words have blown the lid off for such reactionary behaviour.
He is so bad that nobody is objectively being critical about past presidents - everyone is looking at past presidents with rose tinted specs and all predecessors to Trump have halos around their head which is resulting in shoddy appraisals of past presidents achievements and failings. All the good things they’ve done is focused on, while no mention of the negative. Biden being elected will at least bring some sense of pragmatism and critical eye to people’s appraisals of a president.

Biden will most likely step down and the V.P. will take office, that's why he needs to choose a strong candidate with a solid background in political corruption...that's the way we like 'em, here in the states
wtf just happened these past six months.

Not that it would ever happen, but could Biden pick Obama as his VP? Would be FAF if Barrack came back on the scene.

Obama is doing the only thing he can right now and that's reinstating the confidence we lost. Like you said, he can't run again and probably wouldn't want to anyway....who would want to inherit the catastrophe Trump got our country into? Biden doesn't have actual good choices the way I see it right now, I really hope someone will step up and be his running mate

It's fascinating how much people long for Obama now when it quite frankly should be the opposite. Yeah I get the feeling of wanting to get back to "normal", but what was 8 years of the normal Obama presidency followed by? A madman like Trump getting elected because so many people(yes, including vicious racists) were sick of the status quo keeping working people down. That's not all on Obama, but he sure as hell has responsiblity for not having made enough changes to improve ordinary people's lives when he had the power to do so. He and so many before him paved the way for Trump, and we shouldn't just forget that, unless we want to make the same mistakes again.

Yes. All people and especially stupid people are prone to act and think like everyone in their surrounding. Obama is the one who created environment where people thought: Oh yes, we should vote for Trump. He was the president of Trump voters. And even worse: of Hillary's voters.

Not that it would ever happen, but could Biden pick Obama as his VP? Would be FAF if Barrack came back on the scene. No he could not. Wrong. The 22nd Amendment sets the term limit as two 4-year elected terms (8 years total) or 10 years total if you ascend to the presidency. There is no such limit on the office of the Vice President. Therefore, you could serve two terms as elected President and then run as Vice President. If then the President left office early, the VP in this case could serve 2 years in office before being replaced using the normal line of succession (Speaker of the House, Cabinet members and so on). If that two year stretch ended in an election year, the VP that was President and became President again would not be able to run for re-election.

In order to run for vice president, you have to be eligible to be President. Having already served two elected terms, Obama is not eligible. The 12th and 22nd amendment are what decides this. At the very best of this situation, you could call it unclear, because the courts have never ruled on it.

At the very best of this situation, you could call it unclear, because the courts have never ruled on it. My mistake! I didn't realize that the 12th Amendment explicitly excluded ineligible persons from running and obviously as it was in place prior to the 22nd Amendment it fills any gaps left by the 22nd. I agree that ultimately there is no definitive answer until it is tried AND the courts rule on it. The whole thing is hypothetical, in addition to the fact that states have different requirements in order to qualify to be on the ballot and I suppose there is nothing to prevent someone from mounting a write-in campaign to get around all of this and ultimately force the issues to the court. Regardless, this is a moot exercise for this case, as both Biden and Obama appear to have respect for norms and tradition. Edit: after doing some more reading on this, I think we are both correct (or not correct, however you look at it). In such a case, it will come down to literal vs interpretation of the various amendments, as it is unclear what the 12th Amendment means by "ineligible". At the time it was created, the only qualification to be President was age (at least 35 years old) and be a natural born US citizen. The 22nd Amendment adds the term limit restriction, though because in this scenario the term limit only applies to direct election to the Office of the President, such a person would still be eligible to ascend for the two additional years limited by the 22nd. Therefore, at best, its murky and would ultimately rest on which faction (strict interpretation or modified interpretation) controls the Supreme Court at the time. In any case, I think the answer is yes, he could run for VP and the eligibility would need to be decided by the courts before being sworn in.

Donald Trump must be the wrost American president ever. Horrible man & the sooner he's out of the White House the better. I read that he's trying to delay the election, well he can't.

“We are going to win four more years. And then after that, we’ll go for another four years because they spied on my campaign. We should get a redo of four years.”
So he wants to do away with the 22nd Amendment because he falsely claims that his campaign was spied on in 2016 (his own FBI refuted that assertion in a detailed report, by the way) and nary a peep from even one of these so-called "constitutional conservatives."
Really makes you think.
