Don't understand why people are comparing AYW to WBTM. I mean, what's there to compare? Might as well compare a Marilyn Manson album to Kenny Loggins. They're extremely different. Plus we haven't even heard Noel's album yet. We've heard 3 songs properly and a couple of live versions, which hardly ever sound the same on the album. I know, as if youd compare those two albums! I mean, what were the chances of that? Mind blowing. People will of course compare them and in great deal although I personally don't see the point.

Ya, if I were to compare the two so far, AYW has the far stronger melodies and is catchier, while WBTM is better and deeper musically. Musically, that was expected. TBH from what I've heard, I have slight concerns about the melodic nature of WBTM... Very few if any of the songs have hooked me in, which may have sort have been the point/idea with the Holmes approach. We will see. But again, I think this will be a more "album experience" rather than "cherry picking songs you are in the mood for" type album. I said the same thing. I got to hear the album about 2 weeks ago, but it was during conversation during a meeting about something, so i wasn't able to concentrate too much but i also said on here there was nothing that made my ears prick up or grabbed me on the first listen. The most "instant" song was probably Holy Mountain, which is obviously why it was picked as a first single, and even that one has divided opinion I really just think it sounds like exactly what it is... Noel writing in a studio and the songs being written because they have to be, not born out of inspiration like when songs almost write themselves. He sounds out of ideas on this album when it comes to the core songwriting. Like he's trying to shoehorn some sort of song into the music they have made. It might be a "grower", but really, i think that usually means it's not THAT good but if you hear it enough then it feels familiar. Any real great album, you recognise the true quality straight away, even if it's not full of instant songs. WBTM is just all a bit underwhelming and lacking any real substance. Any real great bulshitter, you recognise the quality of his bulshitting straight away even if it's obvious that he is lying. Your posts are just a bit underwhelming and lacking any real substance

From what I've heard, the only thing they have in common is the "Gallagher" name on the cover. I can't see the point in comparing them either, but people love comparing apples to oranges all the time to support their opinions. To me, it feels like different music for different people. Although nothing prevents you from enjoying both records.

So far everything i heard sounds just like he did go in the studio and make it up as he went along.
Which everyone will say well yeah he did, but thats missing the point. He wanted this to be so brilliant that we were blown away that he could come up with something so good in these conditions.
That isnt to say its sounded bad so far. I like alot of it, but you cant help but feel if the idea was for Noel to go in with songs and create a record in the usual way but with the concept there too, youd have got a much better final product.
What we dont want is Noel thinking, new direction = fail rather than new approach to studio = fail, if of course it does fail.

"What's there to compare?"? What do you mean you don't understand? 4/7 Oasis albums had songs written by both of them.

Look at what lengths the music press go to to get anything from either brother! They now have an album out within the space of a month!

Your posts are just a bit underwhelming and lacking any real substance Why would i want to lie about it exactly? - i already explained the situation in which i heard it and where i was and what i do. I could quite easily prove it if i wanted to give personal details away. Anyway, someone on this forum could quite easily look me up if they wanted, i emailed them Fort Knox from my personal email address a while ago. If they wanted to look me up or contact me personally, then they would know i have no reason to lie about it and could quite easily prove how i heard it. I could direct you to about 20 people i know in my line of work that have heard it, and heard it more than i have. It's not a big deal that i heard it before. I was merely posting my opinion from a brief half-listen somewhere and the songs that i've heard in depth too along with everyone else. You're the one making a song and dance about me hearing it.

I recognised the quality of Kid A first time i heard it and realised there was more to explore on further listens. With Noel's songs it feels a bit mediocre on the first listen and maybe it will seem a bit better when it becomes more familiar but that's because everything does. It hasn't got the quality to stand the test of time like Kid A. That is evident on the first listen. That's my point. It's just my opinion though.

Ok, even I don't think this is gonna be as good as Kid A. I do think it'll be better than SOTSOG, though, which is much less mental

When you consider how much of a success OK Computer was, not many bands would follow it up with something way different, it would be seen as suicide. It is a good album and they made it work. It has quality, i don't think it's as good as their best work but if you're really in the mood to hear it, then it really is good. I think a lot of people admired the fact they just departed from what made them so successful and actually did it well.

Not seeing much love for Black and White Sunshine so far, but most reviews I've seen have cited it as the best track on the album. Perhaps the studio version will surprise people.

Can't figure out why iTunes called B&W "palatial psychedelia"....I think they mixed it up with Be Careful TBH. Nothing palatial or even psychedelic about B&W...pretty straight foward rock in my opinion.
