The song is great, the music is great, the instruments sound great. His voice during the chorus is utter shit.

WTF is that on the chorus? Thought this production was supposed to be good?
The verses are fucking mega! Like some updated Sgt Pepper shit, then the chorus sounds like someone put him under the bath water and asked him where the drugs are

I really like that vocal effect. Me too. Makes the chorus all the more euphoric, like it's being implanted in your brain via telepathic megaphone.

I guess I prefer the radio edit version... A bit more straight forward IMO

It's clearly a Noel tradition to release a first single which is not the best representation of an album. At least he admitted that announcing Holy Mountain to his record label as the first single was met with silence. I do like the tune but both Beautiful World and Fort Knox are a million times better and I wouldn't be surprised if several other tracks on the album surpass it too. I love Noel's work but my God his choice of singles and track listing for albums is utterly shite and always has been. Not sure what that's all about. Anyone have any ideas?

Not bad at all. Far far better than she bangs. Think I’m suffering from ‘new song--itus’ though as I’m really liking this. Still wish the French bird wasn’t in it though

It´s my favorite from the 3 released until now, and it´s not even close.

Coldplay could only dream about doing a song as catchy and interesting as this.

The vocal sound in the chorus is shit. Sounds just like it was filtered with an EQ plugin and ran through the sansamp plugin on pro tools, same as every bedroom producer is using to get that distorted/filtered vocal effect. It's really lazy and overdone. I think they could have come up with a better vocal sound for that bit, or at least a less generic sounding one. Something just seems missing from the chorus, it's not quite "dreamy" enough, it almost sounds half finished, like a guide/scratch vocal. Maybe some more vocal layering to create a more lush vocal effect to blend with the music better would be better. They've obviously used that very generic effect to give it a different texture but instead it actually leaves it with very little texture compared to the rest of the track. It's a chorus that had a lot of potential and vocally it sounds half-baked.
Anyway, musically the song is pretty nice. It just sounds like it could have been much more. I've heard the album as i mentioned on here before but couldn't really concentrate on it as it was during conversation, so now i'm hearing it with real detail.
I find the mixing on the album quite poor actually. It's got a lot of nice elements to the music but it doesn't seem that someone has really mixed it and brought it to life in a really musical manner and one that hits you. I'd loved for him to give this album to someone like Dave Fridmann to mix, it would have sounded 100x better. It might have been right up his street. The mixing on these tracks is quite sterile and really doesn't do the songs justice when consider the different musical elements they have laid down.

I've listened to it a few times now and I think it lacks a climax. It kind of trucks along, not necessarily in a bad way, but for me it doesn't really go anywhere. It has a pretty easy going feel, kind of fantastical and then Charlotte starts her announcement and slows the momentum and before you can get back into it the songs over. Agreed. It needs some strings or a good guitar solo in there to really help the song reach its climax. It's supposed to be a different type of song for Noel but this song is just begging for a Noel-style string arrangement or guitar solo. Otherwise, the track is very good, one of the strongest thus far. It seems we really are going to get something different and experimental this time around.

Well, this is pretty awesome. I still feel it lacks something though, not sure what. Miles better than the live version though. The chorus doesn't bother me. It sounds good to me
