This explanation on Facebook makes sense....
"Ok so for all those claiming this isn't live this is how it works. The band rocks up and records live as you can see in the video. Then after the audio has been recorded the cameras come in and they mime to the audio take they just recorded. In a live stage situation there are but a handful of cameras but being a promo video there are many head shots of all the musicians etc making it more intimate feeling. Otherwise there would be like 20 camera operators! The audio is mixed professionally same as any song going on the album. Been there done that got the shirt!!!! Liam and his crew have obviously spent a lot of money on promo otherwise this would sound just like a live gig. I can't see the problem. It's great and professional sounding as you'd expect. Hats off LG"

I think some people were expecting a filmed live take (and that is already done on Colbert). They were doing a beautiful video for the song. I like that we have another version of the song now.

So it will be like the one he did with Oasis back in 1997? Maybe without the stupid Mario Brothers caps this time though. I bought one of those caps back in the day... I think I wore it once before deciding that Ocean Colour Scene tribute band guitarist wasn't the look for me...

It's a live take but it's just been touched up. We are going to get loads of versions of For What It's Worth untouched at gigs so it's nice this got some special treatment, it's a great version, just enjoy it.

It's definitely not live, I believe vocal was recorded just before complete video, maybe band and strings were live (but it's hard to believe tbh) but not Liam, of course. Maybe someday we'll listen to all songs from Air Studios session. Liam also has longer haircut so probably it was filmed before Asian tour
If this video was called without 'Live at Air Studios' prefix, it'd be okay for me personally but anyway it looks very very nice
upd: okay, I see the explanation, well, interesting choice to make a video - 1stly to record and then to mime live version, never saw this before

The voice at second number eight seems the voice of bonehead

I like this version more than the album version. Can't wait for Paper Crown and Greedy Soul, but we probably won't get those until the album is released.

A good looking one sure, slick & glossy but don't call it "live at air studios". Very disappointing.

For me the vocal track is from the performance portrayed on the studio photo on huck magazine imgur.com/a/2zrBQ

Nice one, didn't expect that at all. The chorus part is heavily edited, you can clearly hear a double track, but that's ok, now we have another track to listen to until the next single drops.

So it's not really "Live" as sold in the title, it's another studio recording... When it's live, you record what's coming out of the speakers and adjust volumes and stuff. No overdubs Clearly here it's not the case. It's misleading to label it as live. It's as if Definitely Maybe was sold as a live album.

Okay so I'm annoyed at this and I'll explain my thoughts for anyone who feels a bit weird about this video.
Liam Gallagher is known for 'being real ' - you shouldn't damage that. I get that they want to promo the upcoming tour and album, so they've "created" their own Live performance. Great idea, bad execution.
Keep in mind, the objectives are making existing fans happy (us) or new fans happy.
Here's my own evaluation of this "Live video".
1) The live audio - fake. Blatant miming, some words cut short, lips out of synch, chorus blatantly edited. These flaws are shockingly poor and obvious. The message they unwittingly give people watching (other than they're being lied to!?) is that he must not actually good enough live. Bad messaging.
-----you can stop here, the video is already slightly insulting to fans at this point and makes Liam look fake------
2) The setting. AIR studios has no significance to Liam or his tour. A highlight performance from the tour would make more sense. That would be real and actually mean something.
3) The performance. Liam performing "Live" is iconic, it's all about him playing to roaring fans, connecting. Angrily miming and staring down a camera doesn't do this justice, doesn't even make sense for a romantic and heartfelt apology song. Liam blatantly playing to a camera should be a music video. And one with a fucking narrative, not literally just a staged live performance. Where is it?
Things fans will wonder.
A) His vocal sounds better on the verse here than on the single - why didn't they record the single with this tone? B)The strings sound awesome here - where are they on the single and will they be on the album version?

Having not watched it yet, I just want to put out there:
What about the music video to Acquesce from 1997? That was an overdubbed live performance. What about the videos to Bring The Light, Four Letter Word and The Beat Goes On (not best comparisons but still)..they were all overdubbed live performance's wasn't they?
Why is this video being singled out? Is it because it says "live" in the title?

Don't care if it's live or studio or some hybrid version to be honest - simple but classy video for a great song.
In fact it's nice to get a different audio version of the song here as well as the clip.
Keep up the good work Liam! I'd be very happy with a video like this for every song on the album.
