It kinda feels like almost the end of it all. Brady is 40. Bill is almost 70. Both their offensive/defensive coordinators will likely be HC elsewhere in 2018. I wouldn’t mind seeing Brady retire at the very very top of his game. Still elite. Still dangerous. Still healthy. Losing both the offensive and defensive coordinators at the same time would be rough..... I'm gonna start slowly transitioning to following Jimmy G. and the 49ers.....new era for the NFL; still follow the Patriots, of course, but looking to the future.... spaneli should've made that trade to the Bears. God bless. Jimmy GQ is a stud's stud.

I understand what you're saying but franchise tagging the back up QB is unheard of, even by the Patriots standards of doing the unthinkable.....and, they'd have to keep franchise tagging him yearly. Also, I don't see BB coaching much longer....wouldn't shock me if he retired after this season if they win the Super Bowl.....don't think he's thinking of the future and wants to win now, I don't know..... God bless. It kinda feels like almost the end of it all. Brady is 40. Bill is almost 70. Both their offensive/defensive coordinators will likely be HC elsewhere in 2018. Slightly different scenarios though. Montana missed two whole years due to injury and in that time Steve Young rose up, became an elite QB, winning a MVP. Montana was never the same level of QB again. Jimmy GQ is a free agent at the end of the year and was going to sign a massive deal to play elsewhere. Pats needed to get something, in this case a 2nd round pick. Brady still elite of the league though. Much different scenarios indeed.

You can't be paying two QBs top dollar. There is a hard salary cap. Has nothing to do with Krafts money. That would hurt the patriots in some many other areas. They have a bunch of guys to pay in the offseason (Nate Solder, Malcolm Butler, Danny Amendola, Dion Lewis, Rex Burkhead, Nate Ebner and Matthew Slater). Bill always wants to improve the defense. Makes no sense to pay two QBs when you can only start one. Would never happen. Plus you would need to keep tagging Jimmy every year until Tom retires. That would hurt the team immensely. Keep in mind, in 2017 Brady is still the leagues very best. Jimmy is just aspiring to be that.

(remember jamie collins, lawyer milloy, richard seymour, aqib talib, welker, mankins, vinatieri, etc. etc. etc.) bottom line is bob kraft wanted tom to retire as a patriot, the order was given and bill then did an about-face and unloaded him, inexplicably, for ONE 2nd round (2nd round !!) draft pick.

I mean you just proved my point with that article. The price of franchising a QB is extremely high. Especially one you aren’t even playing! With a hard cap you can’t pay the QB spot on your team almost $40 million. Brady’s contract grows larger in 2018 also. You need that Jimmy G money yo resign guys and bulk up elsewhere. No need to spend on a backup. Tom could play another 2-3 years. Considering he’s gone at years end, getting a 2nd Round Pick was fine. A mid season trade was gonna get you more and they tried like hell to get more in the pre season.

To be honest, ESPN promoted this as a bombshell article but all it had in it was a lot of older news just grouped together. All that Jimmy G stuff was discussed at length back in November. The Alex Guerrero stuff was a huuuuge story a month ago. So many quotes without names attached too. This seems like massive clickbait. Bottom line is they can’t keep two QB. If Tom is gonna play another 2 years then you cant keep Jimmy. Who has barely played in the NFL. I don’t need to tell you what the other guy has continued to do each and every year in the league.

So you want to turn your back on Brady a year after winning his 5th super bowl with a chance to win a 6th this year as a MVP finalist? Trading Jimmy means they are all in on Brady playing at least another year but probably 2. Jimmy is a free agent at the end of the year. Why in the world would he take money to be a backup for another 1-3 years when he can get a huuuuge contract come spring and be the #1 guy on a team? The Jimmy narrative has gotten out of control. He played only 2 NFL games when he got traded. Two! When the Pats drafted him 3 years ago in the 2nd they were laughed at because they had Brady. Then so many experts and fans thought the Pats were over estimating his value for longest time. When Jimmy did finally start for a suspended Brady he got hurt in game 2. Then the media and fans were saying he’s good but maybe a fragile player. He never played for the Pats again. Now he’s in SF winning games. It’s only been 5 games. A lot can happen and change as time passes. I just know at the end of a game, with the season on the line, I feel great knowing I have tommy leading the way. He’s come thru so many times at the highest level in the biggest moments. Jimmy is a long ways off from that obviously. I trust in Brady.

Jimmy was never gonna stay as a backup QB, despite paying him $18M. He can land a starting job for top dollar as soon as February 5. He'd be a fool not to leave. Brady I believe has another 2 years left in him at this level. After that he can retire. But he's under contract with tons of guaranteed money. Its the timing of the transition of QB power. Didn't line up. Who knows what the situation will be in another 2-3 years. Maybe Pats find another diamond in the rough. Got laughed at pretty good with Jimmy. Look smart now.

Thought Super Bowl tickets were sold far in advance, but still a nice advantage to not have to travel, home locker room, familiar surroundings, etc.; but, I'm sure at least some of the players would like to have to go somewhere else, if anything, to get away from their wives and families - human trafficking is at its highest at the Super Bowl, so.... God bless.
