Just so people are aware, I've DESTROYED Noel over the AA debacle over the last 5-7 years and my own perceived notion that Noel is a lazy fucker. A lot of people have joined me in those slayings and I've had intense discussions with spaneli over these issues. He's on the other side on those topics. It's always good to hear his take, maybe I'm missing something. Probably am. I have a very nuanced view of that debacle Long of the short of it: 1. Noel wrong to take album credits 2. However, within his rights not to release the album 3. Noel not completely guilty, but not completely innocent either. He commited some really blatant ethical breaches. 4. Same goes for Gaz (that is not the guilty, but not innocent either), plus he's a bit of an idiot 5. The album probably isn't that good, or it'd been released. Good albums dont stay on sheleves. They're too expensive to make and have too much upside to release. That's pretty much the last 5 years of my thoughts? It probably does suck. I've probably unfairly in my head romantized the results and want to hear it. Probably more out of curiosity and a sense of adventure. There is always a good reason when this stuff falls thru the cracks. Hopefully in 15 years Noel releases it to much fanfare and sales.

So the aftermath, what are we thinking? Liam's debut goes 2 x platinum and Noel's 3rd goes "BE" level? People can forgive but they won't forget. If they haven't soured to the Gallagher name yet, there's no chance they will moving forward. I think they'll both have a good run this year regardless of what they've said or done or didn't do. Fans just won't be able to not listen.

Too far off.

So it's been confirmed that Noel had decided long ago that he would donate money to the cause. I wonder where the people are who said that Noel's gone down in their estimation or that he's an unfeeling millionaire? If this episode says anything, it's that we are often the least in the know of what's going on behind the scenes. I do wonder if Liam was made aware of Noel's contribution beforehand.

And the focus should really be on the event and the tragedy.

It´s about being there and sing his song to the people or just do a little video message. It´s about hope and make people a little happier. Stone Roses or The smiths songs weren´t gonna be played. Obviously he can do whatever he want, and it´s a big gesture his donation but for me it´d been nice if he´d been there.

Singing a live song is nice for the moment but doesn't really change lives. At least not to the victims of the bombing. If you believe the press release he wasn't asked to play or booked. He also donated the royalties long before the concert was planned.

If you asked me the day I heard and saw images from the bombing the last thing on my mind that could possibly be connected to this event it would be a Gallagher brother not showing up for a charity gig and all the mud slinging since. I mean what the fuck people. It's not about that. Never was and never will be. A total lack of focus has broken out.

For me it´s just a comment about Noel and not about the terrible attack itself. His absence/presence/donation doesn´t gonna change this tragedy. And yes, we should focus on that

At first I was disappointed Noel didn't turn up but that's it. Honestly going after someone for not turning up to play a song for a terrorist attack is just sick in so many ways. And for Liam to tweet about it, lousy move in my opinion. But it's boring to talk about now so note it down and move on.

Don't want to add to the gossip, but thought this was post worthy: Noel Gallagher was reportedly never asked to perform at the One Love Manchester gig by organisers. Following Noel's 'no show' at Sunday's concert, his younger brother Liam took a very public dig at the High Flying Birds frontman on Twitter. However, reports suggest Noel had never been invited to play by organisers or Ariana Grande's manager Scooter Braun in the first place. “Noel has been getting a real bashing for not being at the gig, which is totally out of order," a source said. “The fact he wasn’t asked to even perform at any point by any of the organisers makes a mockery of Liam’s claims.” They added to The Sun: “Noel also felt the concert was aimed at fans of pop, not rock, a belief shared by Manchester icons Johnny Marr, The Stone Roses, Happy Mondays and Morrissey." It comes as it was revealed the 50-year-old rocker had quietly made an incredible gesture by donating all the proceeds from Oasis’ 1995 hit Don't Look Back In Anger to the We Love Manchester fund. The song, written by Noel, became an unofficial anthem for the victims of last month’s Manchester bombing after grieving people attending a memorial broke into a spontaneous rendition following a minute’s silence. A source told the Mirror: “Very soon after the attack, Noel contacted the charity and offered to donate subsequent royalties from the track to the victims’ families. “But he insisted it was done on the proviso that it was not publicised.” Earlier Simon Kelner wrote in the i newspaper: "I happen to know that Noel has been donating all profits from sales of ‘Don’t Look Back In Anger’ since the bombing to the We Love Manchester campaign.’ Noel acknowledged those claims as true, as he retweeted a link to the article on his official Twitter account. Since the gig, Don’t Look Back In Anger leapt to No. 27 in the Official Charts midweeks on Monday, after re-entering at No. 66 in the wake of the attacks last Friday. A spokesman for Noel said last week: “Sadly, Noel will not be at the concert this weekend. "He’s been out of the country on a long-standing family trip since before the concert was announced and is unable to attend. “Needless to say he is very supportive of the event and wishes everyone huge success on the day.” Speaking of explanations, you still haven't explained about that time I found you naked with that bowl of Jell-O? God bless.

Up the voltage.... Thanks. Lennon likes this. Doesnt hate Liam though promise. For a guy who "hates" Liam, I'm not sure why I caught him at every NYC gig Beady Eye ever performed (3), attended Letterman soundchecks, bought all the vinyl singles, bought all the special edition versions of Beady Eye albums, have several Pretty Green articles of clothing and have purchased "Wall of Glass" on iTunes. I hate that son of a bitch! I promise.

Just lock this thread please. Agreed. Should have been locked on Sunday night when the Lynch mob came out for Noel and turned the gig from a benefit show to a Liam launch pad and a Noel beheading. Fucking madness.

In fairness its what it doesn't say. He was obviously asked to do it and turned it down. I doubt his mates from Coldplay asked Liam first and the article doesn't suggest otherwise. Its great he's donated the money though, will make a big difference to those struggling.
