They did this when I saw them as well. They had some sort of wheel displayed on the stage background which would select a song. Metallica actually did this too. I was in the music business, briefly. Roadie for Metallica, Speed of Sound Tour. Bunch of assholes.... God bless. Hope your career hasn't slowed down too much since then.

Ryan Adams and The Cardinals used to do a song bingo each night, and Wilco have a request page on their website. In fact Jeff Tweedy did 3 shows in Chicago where the fans made the setlist. He got the list at 4 in the afternoon and had to learn them for a gig 4 hours later...just saying I don't understand why Noel doesn't have a 2 or 3 song acoustic solo segment at his gigs where he is on a stool like he used to do an the early oasis gigs? This way he wouldn't even need to bother rehearsing certain songs with the band and we could get at least one new song every once in a while? because he'd need to figure out how to play a song with a capo. looks like he he's not playing any song nowadays in its orginal key.

Here's the thing though - he doesn't even need to play rarities to switch the setlist up a bit - he's got a metric shit tonne of hit singles he's never played live solo! Live Forever, Cigarettes & Alcohol, Shakermaker, Some Might Say, Morning Glory, Stand By Me, D'You Know What I Mean, All Around The World, Roll With It, Go Let It Out, The Hindu Times... Fucking right. Why rarities? He has tons of songs! Sunday Morning Call, Roll Ot Over (my dream!), Stop Crying Your Heart Out, The Importance Of Being Idle, Going Nowhere... Here's a reminder why you won't hear Noel play "Sunday morning call" again any time soon:

Which is why I still listed it as a hit single he hasn't played solo yet. If his argument is that it's a "Liam song" why is he playing Wonderwall? Or Supersonic!? Or Champagne Supernova!?! Most artists would donate testicles for a song of that calibre, not be avoiding playing it live properly for nearly a decade...

It's a shame that he didn't like how the audience reacted to the rarities the first tour. He seemed to actually be listening to us then: Angel Child/Shout it Out Loud/Alone on a Rope/LDSMD/ Idler's Dream. I wish we would've gotten a Where Did it All Go Wrong? rendition during that time. Unfortunately I think that those types of songs aren't ever coming back. It is weird how he has like 15 hit singles that the crowd would react to that he hasn't tried too....

This intrigues me because he use to sang a LOT of Live Forever acoustically. But now he simply refuses to do so. I'm afraid he may think he can't reach the high notes anymore, which may sound odd, but the last performance was a soundcheck for a radio (which is brilliant btw) but his vocie clearly gives up on the last notes. Then I guess he sang ONE more time in the DOYS tour in Korea (which never surfaced) and then never again. I know it's odd because his voice sound much better than in ´96 or ´97 when he played that a lot. But I can't figure why would he neglect one of the top 3 classics from the band....

That's weird as he regularly performs The Importance Of Being Idle and The Death Of You And Me. Those two aren't any easier than Live Forever.

hahaha, what tool releases a snippet of bloody don't look a hundred million times back in anger instead of the only interesting thing that happened during that gig (which is wtsrts) Just consider the fact of people who are expecting for WTSRTS (or even people who already knows he played it) are probably less than 10% of the people who'll watch the entire performance. It's the same as the setlist discussion, people who goes to Noel's gigs waiting for rarities or setlist changes are minority in relation to the entire audience.

I think that there isn't any chance we will hear Idler's Dream or Shout It Out Loud again. He will probably just like Liam focus on the hits of the 90's. I hope he will do these at some point: She's Electric Going Nowhere Underneath the Sky

99% of people go to see Noel once, when he is in their town. 1% go to see Noel more than once. Those 99% want to hear big hits and don´t care about how many times he played those hits before. They are not bored with them, they are hearing those songs for first time live or maybe they heard them once years ago. And 99% of people go home satisfed. Exactly, most people go to the gig and hear the songs Noel plays, they have no idea what was played the night before, it makes more sense to polish the setlist rather than change it to satisfy...well, who exactly? Us, essentially, we're a tiny group of people that hear every gig but we're not meant to, he's not there to keep us entertained, he's trying to put on the best show for the people at the gig. What I am surprised he doesn't do is what I would do if I was him and change a couple of songs every night, i.e. say 12 are always the same but mix up the other 2, only reason I'd do it is for myself, think I'd get bored otherwise playing the same things every night, mixing it up gives you something to work on every gig, keep you sane.

So in the end..twickenham stadium first night....Gem is back, pretty anonimous on every song except Little By Little which is finally played as it must be. Nice strat on riverman, u can't really feel the difference on this tune between gem and the american. Quite strange solo on champagne...remaining part of the setlist nothig new. Audience was there for U2, NG started at 18.30 with sun in the face, stadium was half empty.. audience just interested in Half The World Away (commercial song) and Wonderwall. Ended up with What a Life, to play DLBIA with U2 (edge and mullen) at the end of U2 gig. Second night DLBIA got back in NG's setlist not as final tune, because it seems the new final tune is gonna be What a Life. Good to see NG & Gem (and sharrock) back together. Don't really know to be happy or disappointed for the performance. Next stop Rome, hopefully in the night
