agreed britpopunionoasis , CS is a collection of good bsides, whereas NGHFB had strong singles and good album tracks. After 25 years, i guess we can forgive Noel for having a bit of down moment in songwriting though, if the next one is good The only track from NGHFB I still listen to is Broken Arrow. All the others are forgettable to me, or ruined by production.

All the others are forgettable to me, or ruined by production. I get what you are saying on that. I know everything seems loud and compressed. The Drums have that same sound in like 4 of the tracks. I always thought it wasn't the best but once Noel did Chasing Yesterday and it had that Heathen Chemistry vibe. Instead of Oasis trying to be Oasis. It was Noel trying to sound Noel. Something about it doesn't work for me. I'd rather the over production then what CY is. Maybe it comes down to the songs. I mean I'm not expert on production but I can let some stuff slide if the songs are there. I mean "The Death Of You and Me" and "If I Had a Gun" (with those Drums") still get me Amped every time. It makes Noel songwriting that is very Mid Tempo more enjoyable. Least in my eyes. I don't love every track on that record but it just seems more passion than his next was put into it.

Agreed but nothing surprises me with "Team Oasis/Noel/Liam For me personally this is the one band that since "don't believe the truth" have no idea how to pick singles including NGHFB They picked Shakermaker as a single. Back in 1994. Slide Away, Listen Up and many others available. Shakermaker!!! Beady Eye also released Bring the Light. Was it the official first single? No. Was it that bad? No. But it was the first thing anyone ever heard from them and it came off as a joke. So I would agree, nothing is certain.

What? The first High Flying Birds album sounds absolutely dreadful. Probably the worst produced album I've ever heard. Don't Believe The Truth says hi.

Gene Gallagher on twitter was asked about that cover shortly before Liam tweeted, so maybe he pointed it out to him?

I like Bring the Light. At least it is something different than Oasis. Now we all want from Noel that he tries something new. Sometimes I don't understand people on this forum.

Never understood how people can enjoy music that sounds so squashed and lifeless. I don't have an issue with compression and loud mixes but what's the point of recording a acoustic pop ballad then just increasing the gain of the drums and drowning out the guitars with treble noise?

I enjoy it because the songs are good, but you're right that it could and should have been so much more. Dave Sardy should be in prison.

I personally have different ways the tracks could've been reimagined, but don't get me wrong tracks like Broken Arrow and Stranded On the Wrong Beach are solid.

I've said it at least 10 times on here already... If this album doesn't have a Black Keys meets Oasis Sound it has no chance.
Has to sound Big and Bold and Rocking.
Anyone but Sardy or Sitek. Has to be someone new and fresh. Zero Magic came from those 2. Anyone who thinks Sitek or Sardy is capable of doing something extra ordinary for this album is on the pipe.
If and i say iffff I had chose I'd take my chances with Sardy. Sitek is an absolute NO. Sardy is capable of that Phil Spector-ish sound

Well, there are different shades of different (Even though, I'll have to admit it, Bring the Light has some redeemable qualities. It was a shock at the time but there's much, much worse stuff on DGSS)
