I’m looking forward to a Kylo/Lisa scene the most. Make it emotional, whatever happens. I’m also excited to see what has become of Luke and where he goes from here. I could care less about lightsabers and the action, I want to know what happens with the characters

Anybody got any predictions for how they think the movie will play out? Probably with some of the John Williams score over the end credits.

SPOILER...................................................................................
There was a lot going on in this movie. A lot. Some of it just didn't work for me at all. So much weird non Star Wars type stuff. I'm still processing it all. I do know this. I did NOT enjoy it as much as Force Awakens. I left the theater opening night with a huge grin on my face. Not this time.

I echo this post except I'm not as sure that I didn't enjoy it as much as TFA. Well, no, scratch that. I didn't leave the theater as pleased as I was last time; definitely see where you're going there. But like you say, there's a lot going on and a lot to process. So right now don't know which I'll like more after a few more viewings. It doesn't have the same emotional punch. TFA having Han dying semi expectedly and all the special “look who’s back” moments made this look more subdued. But I see this aging better. And I'm of the opinion that TFA still holds up. All the battle scenes were excellently choreographed and beautifully shot.

All the battle scenes were excellently choreographed and beautifully shot. Not a lot of lightsaber action. Ho-hum fighting with Kylo, nada with Luke. I mean WTF. Its been 35 years. Can we at least see Luke kick someones ass? I also kinda felt after the Snoke-Rey meeting, Rey got pushed to the back burner of the film. Finn got completely shoved out after a strong showing in TFA. Didn't and couldn't get into that Canto Bight story. Are we really supposed to believe they could run off to another planet, go on a mini adventure and get back before the First Order caught the fleet......aka.......1 ship? ? Also, maybe I missed the reason, but why didn't the First Order send fighters or surround the Rebel fleet? Didn't make much sense to me or whatever lame reason stated. I mean the rebels had no more fighter protection.

I thought it was decent and that it will age better than TFA.
I was surprised by the amount of comedy in the film as well. Even at key points of the film. I think it suited it to not take it so seriously.
There was a couple of weak points as Lennon mentions and also how a backroom member of staff ends up flying one of the attack ships/bikes(?) but hey, it is a Star Wars film!

I absolutely loved it, what a movie. So much excitement and it was constantly surprising, never expected any of it. Thought the Snoke scene was genius, caught me off guard completely!
I particularly like what they did with Leia, with Carrie’s death. Had a perfect chance to have her killed off but they obviously thought “Nope, keep it all in, her role is too good”.
I also quite liked how they evaded the bog-standard typicall-ness of a big lightsaber fight at the end, it’s become such a stupid stereotype for Star Wars and there is an infuriating amount of people who watch the films just for those fights, which totally misses the point of Star Wars.
Reckon Mark Hamill and Adam Driver stole the show with their performances, great actors. Also the humour in this film was perfect aswell.
Definitely got more rewatch value than TFA, as much as I love that film.

I wonder if Snoke was killed off just because his character in TFA was poorly received. I was only half surprised but I was thinking "no, it's too early, they're going to build him up more."
I usually don't care for meta jokes, but Luke's "that was a cheap trick" line at R2 referencing the criticism of nostalgia pandering was brilliant.

I actuall Had no issues with Snoke in Force Awakens. I wanted to learn a little bit more. Guess that is now over.

The Last Jedi to me was... sloppy, to say the least. Great moments sprinkled throughout an overly long film. A bit underwhelming for me on first watch. As of right now, I prefer the Force Awakens for its quick pace and more appropriate humor. Adam Driver as Kylo is a beast of a performance, he might be in my top 3 favorite SW characters: Han Solo, Vader, Kylo Ren.

Didn't like it as much as Rogue One, but it was mostly a fun watch. To me, TFA doesn't hold up two years later due to its blatant plot thievery. It's entertaining, just with the constant feeling of "been there, done that". TLJ did that a couple of times but mostly completely subverted expectations and I like that - there have been nine Star Wars movies by now, it's time to move away from some of the formulas and recipes that most of them have been following. Like, I don't mind that there's no lightsaber duel between Kylo and Rey or Luke - in the OT, the duels are always interesting because of the characters' underlying conflicts, and those didn't need big sword fights in TLJ. What felt really cheap and poorly written was the "we can't run away but they can't catch up to us either" scenario. Guess both sides were moving at the speed of plot, still unbelievable as hell. ( Lennon2217 the official reason is that the small cruiser is faster than the star destroyers and they're too far away for fighters - which is a joke because their range would need to be super small for that to make sense.) And Leia floating through space was an astonishingly bad idea. It's weird for me to see the audience score for the movie at 50-60% on IMDB or Rotten Tomatoes - I get that it wasn't for everyone, some stuff didn't work, but apparently a large part of the Star Wars fanbase HATES this movie

It looked like some bad fan fiction if you ask me. Some good scenes but mainly really forgettable and boring
