So, I have got a keyboard for christmas and I do know how to play most of the chords but the thing that bothers me, is: I have no idea how to transfer vocals melodies to piano notes. Do I have to get partitions or can I get the notes by ear ? Is musical theory necessary ? Thanks in advance for your help

Thanks in advance for your help Synthesia is your friend and you need to find if someone has made a midi track of the song you want to play and the software does the rest(synthesia is a paid app) Or you could do by ear. Figuring out stuff is easier when you do know what key is the song or piece into. Most pop songs uses the root, fifth, a third(minor or Major), sevenths and or octaves. I learnt to play some childhood songs parts by ear, but havent pursued any more than that.

To transfer melodies, you gotta know what key the song is in, and then transfer by ear in that key. I quit piano like eight years ago, but I recently I started to take interest in piano again, and I could transfer pretty easily. If you play piano, learning theory (or at least scales), but as Noel Gallagher said, it's not necessary. But scales would help you a lot.
MIDI or synthesia helps a lot for beginners, but my some of my friends who only play by sheet music had trouble using it.

If you have a guitar tuner handy, just sing the melody into it and jot down the notes that come up. Then place them in the appropriate key on the piano.

Personally, I'd just find someone who is skilled at such things and work something out with them.
