Reminds me of the Lokomotiv team crash in 2012, pilots related perhaps (not joking)?

I guess a tragedy like this is all inconceivable for all of us and I can't imagine the trauma, that the one player, who survived, will carry with him.

Reminds me of the Lokomotiv team crash in 2012, pilots related perhaps (not joking)? Nope, the plane had an electric issue, the pilot dumped the gas(when it ovbious that they were crashing) and that was what made possible to have suvivors on the flight. I went to bed after reading that there were no dead people and now they are all gone, only 5 survived.

What the fuck was wrong with the pilot? He knew he didn't have enough fuel but he didn't want to do Mayday call because he was one of the owners of the airline company and he would've got caught for breaking safety regulations (flying with low fuel).

This is really sad, all those people on the plane, their families... Chapecoense was living their greatest moment in their history, it is a small team in Brazil but also a strong team in Brazil's main league, I saw people comparing it to Leicester and that is pretty much it, a very good team and Copa Sudamericana (same as UEFA Europa League in Europe) finalists.

No one can explain why he didn't stop in Bogotá to refuel. He calculated the ammount of fuel enough for the trip, but not in the case he couldn't land in time, not having priority, like what actually happened. By the time he told the controller about the fuel and electrical issues it was sadly too late. it seems it was a monumental fuck up from the pilot and whoever else whas responsible for the flight plan, and not just electrical failure as initially reported

You can correct me if I'm wrong but I think those planes can't carry any more fuel and that kind of flights should always be with a "pit stop". But I guess they are ready to take that kind of risks if it saves them money and time...

The electrical system is designed in such a way that if you lose engine power (due to fuel shortage, for example) there still are a small turbine (EPU) and very often also an air-powered retractable windmill (RAT) which can supply electricity for the time needed to perform an emergency landing. It sounds so strange to me.
