Issues that are still being worked out: -Unsupported WiFi modules in some systems. Macs that use the Broadcom BCM4321 WiFi module will not have functional WiFi when running Sierra. A fix for this is to open up your machine and install a compatible WiFi card. Machines affected include some MacPro3,1, MacBook5,2, MacBookPro4,1, iMac8,1, Macmini3,1, and MacBookAir2,1 systems. Please note that not all these machines will have an unsupported card, this is just a list of machines known to have shipped with that card in some configurations. -Trackpad (MacBook5,2 affected only). The trackpad in the MacBook5,2 isn't fully supported in Sierra. While it works and is fully usable, Sierra detects it as just a standard mouse, preventing you from changing some trackpad-oriented settings. -Audio issue (iMac8,1 affected only). On some iMac8,1 systems, the audio volume doesn't seem to change even when the system indicates that it is. The audio is still usable, however it will remain at maximum volume all the time. -Early-2008 or newer Mac Pro, iMac, or MacBook Pro -Late-2008 or newer MacBook Air or Aluminum Unibody MacBook -Early-2009 or newer Mac Mini or white MacBook -Early-2008 or newer Xserve upgrade wifi card link www.amazon.com/Broadcom-Bcm94322mc-Bcm4322-802-11agn-Wireless/dp/B008UOBX9U/ref=cm_cr_arp_d_product_top?ie=UTF8

The patcher works. You'll need a copy of sierra., thumb drive. Copy sierra on a thumb drive from a newer machine, then copy to your desktop or whatever you like locally on the mac you're updating. Then, download the patcher and run the patcher. Follow the steps and after it makes the usb image. Re-boot and hold down options. From there, install and re-boot and hold down options.. Then run utilities to run the patcher post. After that is all normal.
If a newer OS update is release, then you're going have to follow the steps again.
All works. I just need a newer wifi card with bluetooth for continuity purpose. I have a mid 2009 imac.
I didn't lose my data or did a fresh install. Just an update the OS.

To allow future system updates, such as 10.12.1, to be installed on your system, you will need to download and run @foxlet's "AUSEnabler" tool (download here). Simply open the tool and select "Switch Catalogs." swdist.furcode.co/Then, select "Use AUS Production Branch", and you will be able to easily receive system updates without future patches make sure check security settings in system preferences and click allow to run the program. I suggest to re-boot mac, then in app store to check system updates. Just let folks know dosdude1.com/sierrapatch.html has an update

update. Everything is fine with my iMac still. I'm working on upgrading my wifi card. Macs are picky with which ones, I've found the adapter wifi card to take a newer wifi cards work. I've just gotten the adapter from China and wifi card came with it, but the card did not have a bluetooth built-in. Also, the adapter screw was on the opposite side, so I used a small electrical tape to hold it down. It does works for an upgrade to your wifi card. Just trying to get hand-off to work is another story with imessage and facetime. Next month I plan to buy another wifi card to test more. I paid 15 bucks flat rate for adapter
