Got the album at the weekend. Listened to it for the first time this morning on the way to work - initial reaction is positive, some great tunes on there.

I've been listening to mine for 4-5 days now. Stand outs for me are Lannoy Point, Weather Diaries, Lateral Alice (anyone digging this should check out the band Moon Duo) and Cali, all of them really good. Also the verses for Charm Assault, but then that chorus strait out of Tarantula… that was a really strange choice for first single. On the other hand, can’t see the point of Integration Tape, and used to great lasts songs on Ride’s album, White Sands does nothing to me. I also wish that All I Want and Rocket Silver Symphony where longer, they kind of end abruptly.
Anyway, very good album overall, didn’t expect that much a few months ago.

The new album is rock solid. Never been much of a Ride fan but Lannoy Point reeled me in and the album is good all around. Lannoy Point, Weather Diaries, Lateral Alice, Charm Assault are proper tunes. Mega.

Just noticed that Ride are supporting Mogwai in Glasgow in December (their final tour date this year).

It sounds more Electric Soft Parade than classic Ride. Verses are great but that chorus doesn't really do much for me. All I Want is still my fave from this album. It's got to be up there as one of the better 'comeback' albums.

Totally agree about Cali, loving it. I've been listening to the album non-stop, I'm amazed they managed to record such great one after all theses year (and all the disappointments I've been having again and again around Andy Bell's songwriting since the day he made it into Oasis...) The only thing is the album kind of ends for me after Cali, but still.

despite the sound issues off the top- that was awesome. what was the song after All I Want - and also that last song? I ripped the full set so I'll probably upload a mp3 version of it soon. Due to the setup issues they probably had to skip a couple of tracks but it was still a very good show. You could also tell that Andy's guitar sound wasn't quite right at the start, maybe because he was using a different amp. Same for Loz which didn't play his usual drumkit. My guess is that part of the gear didn't arrive to Chicago in time for the gig.

And Loz clearly struggled with his setup- esp in the early going.

Someone filmed Rocket Silver Symphony from last night's Toronto show. It's only the second time it gets played, I hope we'll get a pro-shot version of it in the next months as it's one of my favorite tracks on the album. Loz's mic needs to be turned up though!

New bootleg available in this thread. It's the short World Cafe gig from last Friday, which was broadcast on WXPN Radio and Vuhaus. Excellent audio quality.

US radio WFUV has finally broadcast the acoustic set which the band performed back in July. They played three songs from the album (Lannoy Point, Charm Assault and All I Want) and if I'm not mistaken it's the first time ever that they perform an acoustic set with the full band. It's great to see how these songs sound just as brilliant (or better, regarding Charm Assault) when stripped-down! Interview and videos here:www.wfuv.org/content/ride-2017Bootleg mp3s available in the following thread:live4ever.proboards.com/thread/87241/ride-acoustic-session-wfuv-julyCheck them out, they're really great.

Am I one of the few that likes the electronic stuff on this album? All I Want is meh I'll agree but alot of spacey stuff is going on with those songs.

I think they managed to blend really nicely their classic sound with some electronic influences. Rocket Silver Symphony might be my favorite track on the record (well, bar Lannoy Point maybe). It's got some krautrock in it, a hint of electronica, shoegaze harmonies and a shiny production. A great track and not what you'd expect from four guys well past their 40s.

I say that because online I've seen people bash them for doing more electronic than shoegaze which makes no sense to me. Slowdive's record is more a evolved Pygamlion-Souvlaki mash-up, yet no one complained about it not being enough shoegaze.
