Now this is interesting... According to the automatic YouTube audio matching tool, which usually prevents copyright infringement, the atmospheric intro to the 6 Music performance of 'Lannoy Point' is actually 'Integration Tape', which is another album track

Am I the only one who thinks that "All I Want" sounds like the best thing they've done since Going Blank Again album?

Am I the only one who thinks that "All I Want" sounds like the best thing they've done since Going Blank Again album? The audience video sounds very nice indeed, I'm not sure about those vocal samples at the beginning so I'll hold my judgement until the album version (or a pro-shot recording) surfaces

Exactly 25 years ago, on 27 March 1992, Ride played their iconic Brixton Academy gig (it's available in full on YouTube HERE). The support band was a rather unknown group of boys which had named themselves Verve Imho Ride were at their absolute top in 1992. A bunch of 22-23 years old shy kids building hypnotic walls of noise with loud guitars, a savage bass and some driving drums. " Sinking into unknown beauty for a day..."

Mark and Andy have performed a short acoustic set on Radio 2 tonight: really nice stripped-down versions of 'Charm Assault' and 'Home is a Feeling' (plus 'Twisterella'). Download links available in THIS THREAD. For the lazy ones, my rips are on Youtube too:

US radio station Sirius has the first play of a new Ride track today at 3pm ET (8 pm UK time I believe). It's probably 'All I Want', which has been performed in Dublin and Belfast last month. edit: it's definitely 'All I Want', it's on qobuz with a 27 April release date ( link).

Not really sure about that intro...

Everything about that track is good besides the vocal foolery. All it needs is a remix without it to be honest.

It reminds me of Ashcroft using the vocoder on Love Is Noise and This Is How It Feels. Just seems tacky and useless.

I'm glad they're trying a modern sound.

It reminds me of Ashcroft using the vocoder on Love Is Noise and This Is How It Feels. Just seems tacky and useless. I think that effect kinda fit the vibe of 'Love Is Noise', but it totally kills 'This Is How It Feels' (which would be a crap song anyway, so who cares). Here in 'All I Want', as you say, it just seems unnecessary. It doesn't destroy the song, it just cheapens it a bit which is a shame.

Still better than Charm Assault, and I don't mind the intro. The hype is building!

Acoustic performance of Lannoy Point from Saturday's intimate gig in Wales (with both Andy & Mark on 12-string acoustic guitars). Really loving this song and can't wait to hear the album version.

Yeah, that review is completely pointless. Some more interesting detail about the songs and the recording process in this press release by Rough Trade ( link):

Short review from Mojo. And not-so-positive this time, 3/5. Thanks to RideTheNetwork on twitter for sharing the original pic.

I'm honestly not expecting much from this reunion. Then again I could be BLOW away like I was with Slowdive. Awesome record. A real surprise for 2017. My God.

No chance this album will be as good as Slowdive. They really knocked that record out of the park. It could still be a solid album though, and that's what I'm hoping for. I'm happy to hear that Lannoy Point turned out great, and I think there might be a couple surprises on the record.... but no, as much as I appreciate Andy, Mark & co., their current songwriting skills are clearly inferior to Slowdive's.
