He did say wait till you hear this... I think he probably said it as in "Wait till you hear this: I found a tape blah blah blah..."

Of course he did. The whole post was crying for "who wants to pay money for a 25 year old cassette?" Good for him to have some pounds again and good for whoever had the money buying it. At the end it will come out anyway

Could someone post a link to Brian's FB and Instagram? I'm having a bit of trouble finding them. instagram.com/microdotcreativeCan't see how to share a FB profile on my phone but just search for "Brian Cannon", he's the one from Windermere. Here's the post: RQ - Anyone save the picture of the facebook's original post? can post it here or send me through a pm? Thnks

He did take the posts down shortly after the NME covered the story. I imagine that's when the band's management became aware and probably contacted him too. If it's all true he was pretty naive then. He has 1000+ Facebook friends, many who are random Oasis fans he's accepted without meeting, including immoral reprobates like eva Fawkes. He posted publically about a completely unknown Oasis track. He banged on multiple times about how great it was. Of course it was going to blow up.

I still think he might sell it to someone when the things will settle down.

I'm not expecting you to know the answer to this but I do wonder if he will have been asked to surrender the tape on ownership grounds perhaps, rather like Tim Abbot with his video footage back in the nineties, etc. If Brian hasn't got proof of ownership of the tape then realistically copyright reverts to the creator, which if the description by oasisdna is anything to go by would be Noel Gallagher (Himself and an acoustic guitar). It's always a fun one as it can be either a legal threat or a promise of no further work, ostracised by professional partners, etc. I am not saying this is the case with Brian here, but it has happened in cases throughout music and the wider entertainment industry in the past.

I still think he might sell it to someone when the things will settle down. Very doubtful, unless he personally knows the seller and that person will never leak it. I'm betting the band's management people have already talked to him and put the kibosh on the whole thing. Because if he does sell, it will immediately be traced back to him and he'll get in big, big trouble.

According to the comments on Brian Cannon's Facebook thread, at least two other people have copies of the same tape. So even if Brian has handed it over to "the authorities", the fact that someone offered £10k for it would've shown the other owners that there's a demand for it. Personally, I doubt he'll have just handed it over to Ignition. He might've sold it to them, but I think it's more likely he's sold it to a private collector, possibly one of those who frequent this board.

The fact that these tapes have existed for as long as they have says that they've been floated around for sometime through collectors. It makes one think what else is floating around? There could be dozens of songs out there with only a select few hearing them. Because in the end, it's not like Noel was only writing songs that ended up as b sides and album tracks. Law above average says that there are plenty of songs that he wrote without a second thought, recorded it for posterity in the writing process and either deemed it not good enough or never came back to it. In the end, we most likely won't hear any of them, which is Noel's right as a songwriter. Edit: I don't think Brian sold it. What does he gain by fucking over ignition? A few bucks. Not really worth it to him to sell to a collector. Chances are he handed it over without selling.

Wouldn't it be nice if the management made this demo available on ITunes or on the website as an exclusive for the fans ...don't ever see that happening though :-(
