Just edited the thread to just links to the songs as the soundcloud plug in wasn't working when viewed on a mobile so it will be easier for you to listen now. Hope to hear off some of you soon.
Cheers!

So Rolo, I've listened to all of them. First of all, I really like the nostalgic feel of these tunes. There is a lot of melancholy that reminds me of very early Noel (Take Me Away, the first demos tape, Going Nowhere, etc) Some songs had allusions to ancient songs ("They Were the Good Days" first chords remind me of Rockin Chair, "Let Me In" have some melodic similarities with Noel's version of To Be Someone) , which is not necessarily a bad thing at all The voice is on point, mix between LG and Ashcroft, I quite like it. About the recording, I could imagine some nostalgic indie electric guitar tones, especiallly for the first few tracks. Something a bit dreamy, that would quite fit with the songs. These first four tracks are the one I like the most. I think that's all I have to say . Keep it up, and share it with us whenever you want

If that was the one I listened to that you put up on your wall the other day mate I really liked it. Will listen again. That link isn't working though, not for me anyway.

RoloDecember: A pleasant little tune. A bit meandering. Like walking slowly. Let Me In: Nicely rolls along albeit a bit forgettable. Do Some Good: I feel like I'm saying the same thing on every song. Where I'm Supposed to Be: A bit more punch to this one than the others thus far. More earnest. Good change. Get There Eventually: Aptly titled, being the longest song yet. It might overstay it's welcome a bit. There is more variation in the strumming here, which I quite like. Can't really make out the lyrics sadly. The word 'eventually' is a mouthful as a main lyric. They Were The Days: Bouncy. The most uplifting music and melody. Probably my favorite of the set. Solid vocal, decent lyrics, more joyful overall. New Song via FB: Pretty similar to the first few tunes really. Not a bad thing. There is a definite vibe going on here. Folksy, relaxed. Reminds me of early Simon & Garfunkel, very stripped back sound. Raw. It suits your voice well. I really enjoyed the listen. My only criticism is that there seems to be a lack of 'hooks' present. Nothing to grab on to and hold on to for later. This might have to do with a lack of guitar variation within each song itself between verses and chorus. Whether that means lighter strumming at some parts, or picking out others. It would benefit the songs I think.

I agree completley,I also would like to say some of these songs are as good as if not better than noels early stuff in the '89 mixtape keep at it mate in 3 years you could write something as good as live forever!

I like the songs. Vocals, melodies, lyrics formed a whole between themselves. I also like the track list sequence. I believe these songs enough to make a proper record. I agree EyesOverTheCity criticism songs are very similar i guess. I like mosty "Let Me In" and "They Were The Days"
Are you thinking to add different instruments or do you gonna record full band version ?
Good luck with studio works.

@kitjenson Thanks a lot for taking the time for listening to the songs! I do agree that a few of the songs are very similar, I always find myself writing these types, I find them easier than uplifting tracks for some reason. I do think though that when there is more of an arrangement with different instruments they will come alive more, I only have an acoustic and my voice available to me at the moment sadly so they sound even more samey! Appreciate the feedback, thanks again. wylliejack Wow, I'll take that mate! Thanks very much for the feedback and kind words. That would be the dream, but I somehow think it's going to remain a dream haha. keke Thanks for the feedback Keke. Again, I completely agree that a few of the songs are similar, I guess work in the studio could take a couple of them in a different direction? I hope to one day add more instruments to them as at the moment they really are just bare bone demos, the plan is to get them sounding like fully completed songs but I don't know when that will happen yet.

Yeah, I'd also echo what's been said already. Some sound advice. I don't think it's a problem that the songs have a similar vibe. If that's your thing, that's your thing. It's the strength of the songs that matter. As an exercise in songwriting though I do think pushing yourself to try something different in style would be a beneficial experiment, something you'd probably learn a lot from (even if it's what not to do!).
Your songs feel very natural. They're a very smooth listen so I'd say you're doing a lot right. That said I think they need a little more impact. If there was a bigger shift between verses, bridges and choruses they'd stand out a lot more. 'Where I'm Supposed To Be' stands out to me as the strongest of the songs. Has it got strings on it? Whatever it is make them stand out more, cause they're great! Perhaps you could end on them? Isolated. If I were you I'd make the chorus to the song a bridge and add in another chorus. You'd have a real winner then. Lots of potential here Rolo ! All in all though, very good. You've got a strong voice and the guitar work, though simple, is very well executed. Just keep on writing and testing yourself!

I've been following your work since you posted that Start Anew cover in 2013. I'm no songwriter and I'm a crappy guitar player so I can't really add anything relevant to what The Crimson Rambler wrote in the post above mine. I agree with him on every point. I do love your voice and the spontaneity of your tunes. They feel very natural, straight-forward and not forced. Keep up with the good work mate.

The Crimson Rambler Thanks for listening mate. Appreciate the feedback, I agree that I should perhaps push myself in the future to maybe come up with a different direction on a couple songs to add a bit more variation. That recording of Where I'm Supposed To Be actually has nothing on it apart from a vocal and the acoustic with a bit of reverb but I could really see strings working, might have to have a play around with that! Thanks for the kind words. carlober Thanks very much man, I'm glad you enjoy my stuff. I was impressed with that recording you did the other week, keep it up yourself!

Listening back to it I reckon it's just feedback, but it shows there's potential there and that they'd fit in sonically. A happy accident maybe!

Rolo I've listened to your tunes again and I stand with what I said the first time. I really like the way you record the demos. Very clean sound, especially the guitar. On the topic of trying something different, I think that before that, you might continue to develop your songwriting "touch". Try to develop your melodies more and more, add bridges, choruses. It still really reminds of Noel's 1989 demo tape. I see potential and good musical taste. Btw, except Oasis, what are the other bands/artists that inspire you ? I think I hear some hints there and then of different artist but I wanna be sure that they're really some of your inspirations

The Crimson Rambler Haha I think that's what it is but I really do think strings would be great on it, a happy accident indeed! lubeck Thank you Lubeck, A couple people have said they sound a bit like Noel's 1989 demo tape, I find that interesting! Other artists would include The Beatles, Richard Ashcroft and Ryan Adams to name a few.

soundcloud.com/roloasis/were-all-different-demoNew song I've finished writing today, recorded it on a new mic I've got, what you hear is a complete raw take, no effects on the vocal or guitar as I wanted to see how the mic sounded. Feedback on the song would be appreciated, thanks!

Feedback on the song would be appreciated, thanks! Good mic, sound quality very clean. also very good melody, generally decent song that's remind me some of BE acoustic sessions. agree with lubeck on voice mix between LG (BE era) and Ashcroft (solo era). Well done and carry on!

Feedback on the song would be appreciated, thanks! Some Dylan vibes on this one, I think. I like it. I like the clean guitar sound, and the chord progression. Very nostalgic. Need more listen to know what I think about the melody, but I think I like it. Love the nostalgic vibes Your voice is on point, aswell. By the way, have you written some rocking tunes or do you write especially ballads ? Looking forward new tunes.

keke Thanks for listening Keke, appreciate it and that isn't a bad mix is it! I'm pretty happy with that comparison! lubeck Yeah I can see what you mean about Dylan mate. They are mostly this sort of tempo and I find it easiest, as I have said in this thread though I am going to branch out, I have a couple faster songs that just aren't recorded yet. Thanks for listening, appreciate the feedback Lubeck.

December reminds me of the song that was playing in Supersonic when they were looking back at their childhood! Love it!
