¿Anybody have any experience with Levi Shrink-To-Fit jeans? Thinking about trying them.....about to pull the plug on my 511 experiment, only able to find one pair I really like.
Thanks.

When I worked at Levi’s they recommended buying 2-3” width and length bigger than your regular size. You might want to talk to a Levi’s associate or at least read about it online. Never got the point as they end up being a normal 501. Some people like the stiffness and color so they either dry clean them or don’t clean them. Let It Bleed

Let It BleedI read about the shrink-to-fit on the Levi website, says what you said. I don't like to wash jeans, so I'd probably buy more true to fit.... I've been wearing 511's, was wearing 501's, 501's feel like bellbottoms compared to 511's to me now..... All the 511's I've come across are 'stretch' and they stretch too much, in my opinion....buy them tight and they still stretch too much for me; figured I'd go the opposite route with the shrink-to-fit. Will the shrink-to-fit shrink any without washing them? Can we at least agree that Levi's are poorly made? For instance, I can have two 30x30 511's and they can fit completely different, i.e. some times I can't even get a 30 waist size buttoned because they're too tight; some times a 30 inseam is too short, looks like I'm almost wearing capri pants, gross. I'm kinda in between inseam sizes.....probably wear a 31 inseam, but, there's no 31 inseam, as far as I know - 30 inseams are a little short normally and 32 inseam is normally too long......I was in a Macy's about two years ago and Levi's sales associates were there doing inventory and restocking and I asked one of the sales associates if Levi's jeans are made by 12 year olds in sweat shops and she started laughing and tried to explain the varying sizes by some times at the end of the manufacturing runs the sizes run small or something, but I still think they're made by 12 year olds. Thanks.

Thanks. Form what I remember most of our shipments were made in Vietnam. But yeah huge discrepancies between same size and fit happen. Now I never had them but I’m thinking the made in USA line might be more consistent? They use premium denim and are of course way more expensive. I would suggest that you check the elastane content on the tag. 2-3% is gonna be very stretchy. 511 and 501 are very different in fit. I expect that the waist in a lot higher too on 501. I guess you could read about wearing a shrink to fit in a bath and they’re supposed to fit to your body that way. I do hope that they’re not made by 12 year olds! 😱 as a corporation Levi’s is very socially responsible so I would expect that they are pretty strict with regulations and what’s going on in the factories. Have you tried 510? They’re supposed to have a skinnier fit if you find that 511 gets too baggy.

I don't like to wash jeans, and I don't really like any of the washes for the 501 shrink-to-fit except the black, but, I might try them. 510 would be way too skinny; my problem with the 511, and my problem with most jeans is: they stretch in the knee and thigh too much, might just be my body type, though, I don't know.... Do you know how the Levi outlet stores work? Are they overstock merchandise or defective, or what? An outlet mall recently opened in my area and I might check it out.... Thanks.

Outlet stores sell merchandise specifically designed for the outlet stores. Not defects from regular stores or anything like that. They carry same fits and such but my understanding is that most items are specific to outlet. They do carry classic fits and colors so that probably the same stuff as main line stores. Shrink to fit’s color and texture will change if you wash them. They will end up looking like a medium wash blue for the blue. Not sure about the black. Probably some darkish gray. 511: look for the fabrics with the lowest elastane content and it should help with the “bagginess” of it. Otherwise you’ll have to wash often. Talking about washing.... Levi’s recommends to wash as little as possible and always inside out to preserve the color of the jeans. Fit: skinnies can fit so different from one brand to another. It is possible that another brand will fit you better. Like I said look at the tag inside for elastane. Ask the associates also.

I went to a Levi outlet store a few years ago, wasn't very impressed with the selection, but, I was looking for a specific pair, which they didn't have....the store seemed kind of generic, I don't know. I'd like to go to a real Levi store, but I think the closest one is in Philadelphia, about 6 or 7 hour drive, kinda far just for jeans... I'm getting more knowledgable with the 511's; there are some washes of 511's that are non-stretch, never seen them in person, only on the Levi website, though; very hesitant to order jeans online because of the size variations, as already stated. I don't like to wash jeans, I'll febreze them once in a while or maybe throw them in the dryer with a dryer sheet, but rarely wash them unless necessary, i.e. I spilled beer on my jeans a while back while sleeping or pissed my pants after one too many beers, whoops.....so, I washed them. If I got shrink-to-fit I would only soak them in water or wear as is... Thanks.

I dgotta not really know much about it. It seems like they used the denim from the edge of the cloth making it less likely to lose shape or fray. Sounds like they used a premium quality denim too. I’ve never dealt with this line.

My latest purchase was some prescription Ray Bans.
It’s the first time I’ve bought prescription sunglasses, so now when I monkey about doing my best Liam at Knebworth impression I won’t bump into things.

X Haha bumping into things makes the impression all the more authentic I kid, I kid Nice purchase though! I've seen some ads for prescription Ray Bans around recently and, unsurprisingly, every pair looks super slick.

Discounted polos! It's nice to have a collection of good quality polos. They're preppy but they go with everything, super versatile.

I like to scout the local charity shops esp for Jeans cos i prefer them to be worn in/tattier looking than new ones. Saw a pair of ladies Hillfiger jeans but on a size 12 hanger (i'm a 10) but when I inspected them properly they were my size. Got them for £3 which I thought was a bargain. They're absolutely mint. Well chuffed.
