I'm always kinda appalled when I speak to interns at my workplace (most 18 - 21), they come out of teenagehood into the corporative world with surreal expectations and a way to see the world that seems clearly shaped by their usage of internet behaviour, no undertones between black and white. This is what I hate about twitter as well and what this situation exemplifies better than anything else. Nuance is a non-existent concept, to the point that any attempt to offer an explanation for this kind of behaviour other than he's a foaming at the mouth racist gets you accused of being an apologist and/or infantiliser. Explaining ≠ condoning. that's pretty much it. I first signed up to Twitter, I guess, in 2010 and to me it's clear how the platform has gotten worse and worse. it definitely got worse when it became X. I'm off it for years and I only keep a burner account to check something every now and then (mostly insane LG tweets like yesterday). twitter got banned from Brazil for a whole month in 2024 and I'd say that's the greatest thing that happened to this country for the last 5 years or maybe more

I can only imagine Noel's reaction to this.

I feel so sorry for the 'real information about oasis' account on twitter as people have somehow convinced themselves it's Liam and now the owner of that account is getting shit tossed at them as well

On one hand, it will probably blow over just like most slurs against far eastern people. But if I was a multi billion dollar corporation and one of the people I have decided would be the poster for my brand was pissing around like this online I'd get rid. A total liability.

It's alright but it's nowhere as good as the other songs which Liam has written apart from Little James that is which is got to be his worst song.

Gone is Liam's best closer. Love the spagetti western feel to it. Great lyrics too.
Fucking love all the string arrangments on Why Me Why Not.

Been listening to As You Were again today for the first time in a little while. It has aged perhaps the best out of all Liam's solo records, the songs still sound new & fresh even though it's now been nearly eight years since it came out. Little did we know back then that this was just the start of Liam's comeback: six #1 albums, six singles in the UK Top 40, as well as two sold out nights at Knebworth, all of which would ultimately lead to an Oasis reunion tour. Mad innit.

Today I was thinking about this tune, it was the first song to be released after I started listening to Oasis and NGHFB/BE back in 2012/13. I've always thought it was a strange song. Back then it used to make me sad because it represented the fact Oasis had fallen apart to make room for underwhelming music (not that bad but not comparable either). Now, listening to it after all that's happened in life, it just makes me think about a time when I was younger.

Nice little surprise. Just been to a posh pub in my hometown in Yorkshire, where they normally have safe playlists on loop all night.
I step in , and tonight theyve gone uber-obscure: Liam’s cover of I Don’t Wanna Be A Soldier Mama, I Don’t Wanna Die.
A bladdered couple even dancing to it at the bar 🤣

Not that I think this is out of character for Liam, because familial loyalty is one of his defining traits, but... it's the Sun. Can we wait until something other than a tabloid reports it before we get too worried?

Not sure he's been found guilty? Did i miss that...so the family supporting him is absolutely fine until then.
This equal world has bad eggs in all sizes, genders and nationalities.
I've not read a word about it as I dont care about rumours, let it go through then scrutinise facts. Bad damage can be done at this stage if it ends up being false.
A mate of mine was falsely accused by a woman 4 years ago (his wife who he had just left due to her hitting him a lot) He's had hell watching it unfold and mates walk away "just in case its true". Now £25k in legal bills and 4 years of access to kids issues hes finally ok. But zero punishment or cost for her
So forgive me if I sound uncaring as it wasnt meant that way. But let the man be judged before "wtf?" reactions to family support... The Sun though..

Well… I think there’s some truth and some rubbish in this article. I was there when Liam supposedly dedicated a song to Paul. He said 'RKID' and he's never called Paul that. And the fact it was Stand By Me just screams it was for Noel. Don’t buy that bit at all.
BUT… I saw at least one person on Twitter posting a picture of Paul at the concert last night, so…

Judging by people's reactions on twitter it's gonna require the PR job of the century to get people back on side. We'll see what happens.

I saw that too, unfortunately I think a lot of these young fans are naive in a way . I wasn't even surprised to see that article because knowing Liam I knew he'd definitely stick by his family... I just hope it stays behind the scenes and that P isn't going to be involved in anything related to the tour onwards... I'm just disappointed he was in that Edinburgh show

Twitter, like all the social media sites, is a reality distortion field, and therefore useless as a barometer for measuring public opinion on anything. It’s all performative outrage and hysterical ephemera. It’s not real life. Remember Liam’s silly tweet shortly before the tour started, using an old derogatory term offensive to Asian people? That was supposed to burst the bubble of hype around the band and bring the whole thing crashing back to earth. But did it make the slightest bit of difference once time rolled on and the gigs started actually happening? Did it fuck. A few people sold their tickets (or claimed to) in meaningless protest, and we all just moved on.

A few people sold their tickets (or claimed to) in meaningless protest, and we all just moved on. Id agree with this. The venue announced today a confirmation he won’t be DJing at that Dublin afterparty, so its clear they realise the charges are something serious and need to be kept away from the band. And while I embrace the ethos of innocent til proven guilty, its safe to say even family-devoted Liam isn’t gonna be letting him off if hes convicted. So at this stage I don’t see what else they can do. But I’m not hugely worried about it destroying their reputation or anything.
