Pavement are the best american band of the 90s and no one can tell me otherwise Yeah Pavement are probably my favourite american band of the 90's too. I love how they were continuously releasing great indie rock singles and made it seem so easy. And I do like Terror Twilight too. I think it gets a bit of flack from hardcore fans and some critics because it's the most polished and "poppy" sounding record the band's ever done. But for me it's an unfair judgement cos' there are quite few killer tracks on that album. Probably not their best album but far from mediocre.

Completely agree, to come out with tracks like Spit on a Stranger and Major Leagues (not to mention the Hexx) when SM was finding it so hard to find inspiration is really a testament to how good of a songwriter he really is, it's not their best album but definitely better than 99% of the shite that was coming out in the late 90s. For me it doesn't get much better than Wowee Zowee though, that album was the soundtrack to my life in year 11.

This song has a lot of popularity and is a solid classic, but the lines,
We live for just these twenty years Do we have to die for the fifty more?
really hit listening to it today, especially being in my '20s.

Wow. Yeah... I haven't focused on those lines before--there are so many words rushing by in those verses--but that couplet packs a punch, now you mention it.

"Masterpiece" is maybe an overused word but I can't think of anything to describe this song better.

"Masterpiece" is maybe an overused word but I can't think of anything to describe this song better. Probably in my top 10 of all time, by anyone It's the easy choice when you talk of Smiths song but it's just perfect The melody, Johnny's guitar, the rhythm section, Moz's as always fantastic words, and you can hear it all before one of the best choruses ever written comes on It's obviously vastly different musically and lyrically, but to me It's got that same Oasis vibe where it's supposed to be sad but in the end you find yourself wanting to sing it out loud at the top of your lungs and you convince yourself that there is a light that never goes out

Was listening to Fancy today and thought J Storm aka Fabio Lione (Yes the Rhapsody of Fire ex singer) took inspiration from the earlier stuff especially Bodyguard for Eye of the tiger:

As much as I don't like the last Queensryche record, La Torre is right. It is way too early to start opening venues despite the 'but but 98% but' going on

Holy Mountain has had more streams than Once and What A Life and is just behind If I Had a Gun.
Wow.

Not surprisingly the May gig for Weller has been canceled. So, that was my 3rd try to see him. #sigh#

So, that was my 3rd try to see him. #sigh# Haven't heard anything about the Dutch dates from Weller HQ nor venues yet, but I take the entire European tour this Spring will be cancelled or postponed again. It would have been my 13th, 14th, 15th and 16th Weller gig last year April, but it got postponed to April this year. Pity, but I can't see myself being in a packed venue next month. He will come to us again, trust me.

Spotify numbers of post Oasis records It is kinda not fair to hold the numbers for DGSS, HFB and BE against them. These albums were all dropped pre Spotify being the dominate go to listening experience for most consumers. They’d have gotten a lot more streams if they came out between 2016-2021.

DGSS is also absent from a lot of European Spotify platforms, I don't have it here in Italy
