Except for maybe the drums on If I Had a Gun and the entirety of Stop the Clocks, I don't have much of a problem with the production. And the only song I never cared for is Soldier Boys and Jesus Freaks. It just kinda goes nowhere. For me, the second part of the album is just as strong as the first.
I'd definitely listen to this over Who Built the Moon any day of the week.
Shit artwork and not enough B-sides though.

I’m OK we didn’t get a reissue (on green vinyl/picture disc, lol). There was too much time between it and Chasing Yesterday.
The choir was better used on DOYS and that last Oasis tour than on NGHFB.

Everybodys on the run. Enough said. Thats the peak of Noel using the Chrouch end choir as an instrument.

Good album. What a Life, Broken Arrow, and The Death of You and Me are among his very best solo tunes.
Alone on the Rope and Let the Lord Shine a Light on Me should have found a way on there, though.

Didn't much care for NGHFB1 when it came out, but now I love it.
Every time an Oasis-related album is released, people (mostly in the media) say "this one stands alongside the first two Oasis albums comfortably". NGHFB1 is probably the only album of the lot that actually lives up to that hyperbole.
Everything except for Everybody's On The Run. Never understood why everyone raves about it, it's pretty dull to me. Every other song is better.

I'm currently listening to Noel Gallagher's High Flying Birds Best Of as I haven't listened to it since it was released. It does have some good tracks on it but I wish that there was more tracks on it from Chasing Yesterday.

I've just finished listening to Chasing Yesterday and it's still my favourite Noel solo album.

10 years ago today. NGHFB first gig. I was front row in Dublin. Was offered €500 for my ticket outside. Not a chance. Album went to number 1 and city beat Man U 6-1.

Noel's first ever solo gig in Amsterdam was 30th November 2011. Met him outside the venue and met him 7 years later again (same old grumpy bastard ) I remember hearling Freaky Teeth live for the first time. Good times.

Last night I revisted Chasing Yesterday and Who Built The Moon? and I enjoyed them both. Mind you, I haven't listened to them in a while.

Oh Noel... He has seemed happier in the interviews lately and not as grumpy as he was some time ago, but now I see he's in the press asking why climate protesters can't be legally run over.

9 years ago today I seen Noel live in Vancouver. He quite enjoyed himself, chatting and joking with the crowd in the front row. Barely an hour long with Snow Patrol playing after him for some reason, lot of people left after Noel was done. Some tears were shed during If I Had A Gun, such an experience hearing it live. I fucked up the clap bit in Half The World Away as I was too excited. I seem to remember Noel sticking around a few seconds longer than normal after Don't Look Back in Anger.
I really do hope I get to see him live again one day, living in rural Canada makes it really hard though.

I read that he's been moaning about them on Stop Crying Your Heart Out the other day. But these comments about climate protesters been run over are absolutely stupid.

Anyone know the source of these comments? Were they from the latest Matt Morgan podcast? Course it was, where else are they gonna get free Noel Gallagher quotes to post out of context as their own Thanks for confirming. Seemed likely given the timing. And yes, of course they do get instant quotes, but Matt and Noel are hardly unaware that this podcast-to-tabloids pipeline exists. Matt also can edit out anything he likes. Indeed, one of Matt's skills seems to be getting Noel to go on these very easily lifted soundbite rants, although depending on your POV, it also brings out the most boring and predictable side of him.
