We're On Our Way Now and Flying On The Ground really are two very nice additions to his back catalogue, I'm glad we got them Two quality tunes, amazing to play them one after the other

One thing I will never understand is the pathological hate towards Lock All the Doors. I honestly can't hear what's wrong with it. Sure, it could do with Liam's vocals but I've always thought of it as a great rocker and I can't wait to hear it live one day. Perhaps it could be a bit heavier? I just think it's an average attempt at 90s Oasis (not surprising given the chorus is from back then), something he already did with mixed success in the 00s, but with the added downside that there's no Liam on vocals to elevate it It's not a particularly bad song per se, I wouldn't turn the volume off if it came on the radio, but there's nothing that makes me want to go back to it, it got boring very quickly for me You Know We Can't Go Back which is similar in style for instance is a much better song, there's a genuinely nice pop tune in there, Lock All The Doors falls into the Lyla category, nice singalong and great energy live, but the song's just mediocre and there's no feature that makes it stand out

I generally hate it along with Girl With X Ray Eyes, really poor pastiches/rehashes - a major issue with a lot of Chasing Yesterday I felt. But I listened to it via the best of album and it’s not as bad as I thought and there is a song in there. What it is is an Oasis song and one that definitely needs Liam so desperately - this is a guy so great he could elevate a piss poor song like Lyla and make it sound good. Additionally, Noel can’t sing Oasis rockers. And the production is so bland and lifeless, it should be much heavier and given the Owen Morris treatment. If I’d heard Liam singing this first time around with the heavy reverend guitars, I’d immediately like it. I listened to it again with the best of and it still sounds like it should've stayed in the 90s. Late 40s Noel vocals does nothing for it. Sounds like a big budget karaoke session. Imagine '94-95 vocals Liam at the "I tried to catch her, every night" bit and just knowing Liam is going is elongate and add a vicious snarl towards the end of it. Couple in Bonehead's tidal wave of Barre chords as well.

The fact that we see those tunes as easy or lazy speaks for Noel's songwriting qualities.

Love You Know We Can't Go Back, Holy Mountain and Heat Of The Moment as well even though they always get shit on, I love the energetic Oasis style songs and love all the newer stuff as well.
The only ones I'm not that keen on are songs like The Right Stuff, Be Careful What You Wish For and Rattling Rose. I don't really know how to describe these type of songs but I'm sure you know what I mean, the slightly jazzy acoustic driven songs.
Those songs just kind of float along aimlessly, I always zone out when listening to them, they're just not 'out there' and interesting enough instrumentally or production wise for me either...Riverman being the exception though

I love Lock All The Doors and You Know We Can't Go Back, they're great little tunes. Blue Moon Rising is ok but it's certainly not one of my favourites from Noel. Infact I would put it in last place out of all of the lead tracks on those EPs.

Could it benefit from Liam's voice? Of course, as almost any other rocker on Planet Earth. But I don't even think it's the most obvious case. 'Come on outside' for instance seems to me much more clearly written with Liam in mind Next in my list of unpopular opinions: 1) I think The Girl with X-Ray Eyes is an amazing composition (Weller is with me on this one, and he knows one of two things about songwriting) 2) I don't think Sardy ruined IIHAG. The acoustic versión is also great? Yeah. Does his production add anything to the song? No, it doesn't. Does it "ruin the song"? No, in whatever version it's one of the few NGHFB songs that casual music listeners like immediately

I think they play it a tad faste live and I think it sounds better that way. Apart from that, I never had any problem with the production, in fact, I think the whole album sounds pretty good.

I remember in 2015 waiting for the band to play that song and they never did. Probably one of my favorites from Chasing Yesterday.

Yeah one of the few exciting songs of CY. Along with You Know We Can't Go Back, Riverman, While the Song Remains the Same, Do the Damage or the right stuff. The rest can stay in Noel's sock drawer forever, as far as i'm concerned.

Love the Sons Of The Desert remix of Blue Moon Rising. Should have been the one on the EP. Bugging me that we have no idea who did it. X

The DHL tracking site says that the things I orderer from the Noel store were dispatched from Germany. Could that be true or did it just go from the UK to Germany? I’m asking because of the import fees and all that.

Anyway, my package FINALLY came including a lot of CDs and a 7”. £30, 15 for delivery and no additional fees... but a CD and the vinyl were halfway out of their sleeves in the package and the poster is torn. That’s almost no damage but still, it was down to plain luck that nothing important got ruined. Not happy for that kind of money.
