Went into a hardware store, saw the deluxe Be Here Now boxset and just couldn't resist, even though it was really expensive. I'm spending so much money right now on music and it just cannot be justified but whatever. Why was the deluxe be here now box in a hardware store...?

They sell all kinds of stuff besides the obvious, including tons of CDs and records.

The Lord Don't Slow Me Down documentary is ok but I can't understand why it was filmed in black and white either. It seems a bit daft to me. I haven't watched it in a very long time though. Was it a Stones film Baile Walsh was trying to mimic? That was the story behind the Let There Be Love black and white slow mo and I guess they kept the black and white for the rest of the movie. I've got no idea to be honest but maybe it was especially with the story behind the Let There Be Love video being that.

It does seem weird to me that a electronics store selling all kinds of stuff as I've never heard of that before. And, here in the UK a hardware store sells home goods etc.

The audacity of telling God that He doesn’t exist. Great passage. I fucking love you, coked up Oasis.
I met my maker, I made Him cry, and on my shoulder He asked me why His people won't fly through the storm. I said "Hey, listen up man, they don't even know you're born.”

Only HMV left now with any presence, without them and a few dozen independant record shops the UK would have to rely almost exclusively on Amazon. Sad state of affairs for the physical music lover / collector.

That's a good point as around here there's no record shops at all now and there's only supermarkets like Morrisons who sell a few cds and dvds.

The Fame should be in place of Magic Pie. Every Oasis tune is better than MP, imho.

The Fame should be in place of Magic Pie. or one from Stand By Me single. Stay Young was the perfect b-side to DYKWIM

I just heard the man himself say "it's always raining in my songs, but the sun's about to come out. [...] It's like a love story in the rain" and I think he truly fucking nailed it That's how Oasis feel, it's not downright happy like a hot and sunny day, but it's incredibly liberating There's just a sense of freedom to when you're able to embrace the shit you may be into and still see the light slowly coming back behind the clouds, that's what it was all about
Just life innit

(I Got) The Fever and My Sister Lover would have fitted on Be Here Now perfectly instead of Magic Pie. Or Flashbax even. I've never really been keen on The Fame but it's ok I guess.

One thing I really love about The Fame is that even though it’s so loud and just blasting in your face, you can hear genuine sadness. Same with My Big Mouth.

Yesterday, Oasis finished 9th in the MTV countdown of best selling British acts of the 21st century. 19,25 mill single 'sales'!

One of my favourite recordings from the band. Gorgeous dreamlike backing vocals by Liam.

Starting the Noel Gallagher is not a bad lyricist cult

Starting the Noel Gallagher is not a bad lyricist cult His lyrics are not the best parts of his songs but he’s nowhere near as bad as he is often portrayed.

Starting the Noel Gallagher is not a bad lyricist cult This is a good idea for an appreciation thread, probably better than 99 per cent of threads on the board I reckon. Critics fall over themselves to praise Bob Dylan, for good reason and Dylan has published 100s more songs than NG but Dylan released a song with offensively banal nonsense like: "Wiggle 'til you're high, wiggle 'til you're higher,; Wiggle 'til you vomit fire."www.bobdylan.com/songs/wiggle-wiggle/Not his finest moment, but every songwriter has absolutely shit lyric off-days.

The whistle before the last chorus on Go Let It Out, genius.
