I might've dreamed this but I remember Noel saying he planned on having it on the record before writing Wonderwall? There might be something in that, only because I also had a vague recollection of hearing something similar but wasn't sure if it was nonsense. If it was in competition with Wonderwall, then fair enough, right decision for the band! I’m pretty sure I remember it being in Noel’s notebook listed for album 2, possibly as track 3. There is a photo of that somewhere.

I know most, of not all, MG songs including B-Sides were recorded in 2 “batches” at Rockfield studios. It was in May and when else? Also do we know the order in which the songs were done? I remember that The Swamp Song, Roll With It, and Morning Glory were the first 3 to be done, I’m pretty sure anyways. What came after?

Rockin' Chair is great and one of Oasis's best ever b.sides. I tend to listen to it quite regularly.

I find it perplexing when people dare to insinuate Oasis are a one hit band.
Um, WTSMG has at the very least 4 hits on one album, alone.
I have never met someone who has outright hatred for Oasis, though. Go figure.

Underneath The Sky is a great song and yes it's underrated. It's my favourite b.side on the Don't Look Back In Anger single.

As we drink to ourselves we'll amuse ourselves.
One of the best Oasis songs lyrically for me.

revisiting let's all make believe for the first time in a while. wow. Let's All Make Believe is a great song and one of Oasis's best songs from the Standing On The Shoulder Of Giants era. Infact it's one of my favourite Oasis b.sides ever.

That's always been one of Liam's worst songs for me. Good job it was only a b.side and not an album track.

I have a different theory: Oasis have so many better songs in their catalogue (Slide Away, for one), that you can separate Oasis fans from the average listener, as the latter will almost always cite Wonderwall, to the frustration of the former. That’s the dichotomy. I don't think it's the Oasis fans who hate "Wonderwall" the most. Most of the fans would still have it have in their top 20 at least. And yeah Slide Away is even better, utterly beautiful song from the lyrics, the melody to Liam's vocals (his best vocals maybe). I don't get the hype about Liam's performance on Slide Away. He doesn't sound at all comfortable singing it. He sounds like he's straining all the way through, like maybe everything's just a bit too high for him. I can feel my throat starting to hurt in sympathy when I listen to it.

Stand By Me should definitely have been the lead single, for me. Give that a decent radio edit and it's a mammoth hit in a way that a darker track like DYKWIM was never gonna be. America, Britain, anywhere, doesn't matter - Stand By Me as the first taste of LP3 would have destroyed the radio for months. The added bonus is the idea of people a few months later putting their CD's in for the first time, trembling with excitement for the third Oasis album, and having all eight minutes of DYKWIM come booming out of their speakers for the very first time. Ah, what could have been. I'm with you on hearing DYKWIM for the first time when you put the LP on, works infinitely better as an album opener than a lead single. I remember honestly wondering what the hell was going on when Jo Whiley gave it its first play. It went on forever 🤣 In my mind there's 4 singles from that period, Stay Young, Stand By Me, Don't Go Away and My Big Mouth. The four singles for me: Stand By Me (singalong) Don't Go Away (for the Wonderwall fans) Stay Young or I Hope, I Think, I Know (for the singalong again) All Around The World (for the diehard fans)

Round Are Way has always been one of my favourite Oasis b.sides and it should have been on The Masterplan compilation instead of The Swamp Song.

Agreed, I'd have taken Round Are Way over about half of the songs that made it onto The Masterplan.

It works on Fade In/Out because of the intense vibe of that track, but it's just not at home on Slide Away for my ears.

Oasis have sold over 75 million records.
However, “It’s not about selling records, it’s about being real.”

Elon Musk should name his spaceship ‘Champagne Supernova’, so I can say to my future son, “Son, look, there’s a Champagne Supernova in the sky.”
This musk be done.
