Noel's version of Fade Away is better than the original Fade Away is just perfect for Liam. Don't think Noel did it justice. I love the semiacoustic arrangement, and Noel's voice on "we only get what we will settle for" gives me chills

Just listened to Ain't Got Nothin' again and it's actually not as bad of a song as I thought it was. It could've used more of a blues guitar solo in there rather than just the screaming in there which would've given the song some more substance. I Believe in All would've been a better song on DOYS, just since it is more complete, but Ain't Got Nothin' is as bad of a song as I thought it was, nor is even The Nature of Reality. I think what makes the last three songs have such a bad reputation is that they're not as contagiously energetic as the songs that precede it. Had I Believe in All and Come on Outside been in for Ain't Got Nothin' and The Nature of Reality, with Soldier On & Boy With the Blues to close, it would've been far better in keeping the energy up. I Believe In All is a good song and it's much better than Ain't Got Nothing. And, I like Soldier On. Boy With The Blues is a good song but it's not a song I actually listen to a lot. (Get Off Your) High Horse Lady should never have been on Dig Out Your Soul as it must be one of Noel's wrost ever songs.

I’m just realizing how genuinely ridiculous and utterly brilliant these lyrics are.
The arrogance to tell God he doesn’t exist. I fucking love you Oasis.
I met my maker, I made him cry. And on my shoulder he asked me why His people won't fly through the storm.
I said, "Listen up man, they don't even know you're born.”

Coming onto "Columbia" after intro = An amazing start, with a banger don't forget, to a historic concert! Bet Bonehead was loving it!

Noel's voice on "we only get what we will settle for" gives me chills Yes, every single time. The lyrics to that song are painfully true.

High Horse Lady is definitely better in the context of the album than outside of it. Outside of it, it's just a generic 3:30 song with the last bits having rocks being picked about, but in the context of the album it picks up the dark, space-y vibes in I'm Outta Time and contextualizes it to where we arrive at Falling Down and make sense of what's going on. I think the album makes sense, as it is, but Come on Outside being after The Nature of Reality would've allowed it to make more sense (the whole apocalyptic vibe).

If I wrote the chorus to Don't Look Back In Anger I'd stop and go find another job because honestly how do you top that

Maybe but I still don't like ( Get Off Your) High Horse Lady. Falling Down on the other hand is a good song and I like Gem's To Be Where There's Life too. But Ain't Got Nothing and The Nature Of Reality are another two songs which let the album down a little. I've never been a big fan of Waiting For The Rapture to be honest. Well the album version anyway but it's ok I suppose.

Infact it's probably one of my favourite Oasis single releases. And the video is great too.

The ideal DYKWIM: Intro: Original Verses: Rethink Glissando: Rethink Bridge: Original Chorus: Original + Rethink Strings Outro: Original Does anyone know to play the chorus string part on keyboard or something so I can dub it over the original chorus?

I feel a very deep connection with One Way Road. One of their best b-sides, but I'm glad it's not on the album, it fits more in the "small and unknown" kind of song.

Maybe the most underrated Oasis tune of all time I know Oasis are mostly about hope and optimism, and melancholic joy, and I love that, but the darker stuff of the SOTSOG era is so haunting Sometimes I listen to sad songs and can't connect with them because they sound almost cliched, with the likes of Gas Panic, Where Did It All Go Wrong, Let's All Make Believe, Roll It Over and this one you get such a strong feeling of sincerity even if you can't relate to the drugs hell he's going on about, it's like suddenly being able to take a look into someone's soul

I bought the SCYHO 12” last week which gave me a reason to listen to “Thank you for the good times” for the first time in about 15 years.
Have to say it was better than I remembered.
