I think the Mustique demos show the longstanding theory that BHN went wrong in the studio as a lie. The songs - in all their guitar layered excess - are more or less fully formed. Yes it is amazing how similar the demos are to the final product that was Be Here Now. They are just missing Liam's vocals and some polished guitar work. I wonder what took so long to complete it in the studio? Just endless partying?

I remember Liam saying no coke was actually done during the actual recording. There seems to be this myth that they were all off their heads during the actual final recordings and everyone is like "louder, longer" or whatever.

If that's the case, I'd be curious to know how the fuck the recordings got to be such a jumbled up mess in the end. Maybe Noel feeling the pressure to capitalize on two albums of success with a third one that would put them OTT and into the echelons of Led Zeppelin, The Beatles, and The Rolling Stones, and deciding to just go big with the sonics of it? It's very confusing tbh.

Talking to myself again. This time I think I’m getting through.
Perhaps this is the most overlooked Oasis lyric.

I like how the verses are busy melodically in Wonderwall. Liam, in the opening line, sings 17 notes in less than 2 measures, which I think is pretty unique in the Oasis catalogue.

The way Noel harmonises with himself on the final "life on the other hand, won't make you understand" in The Masterplan is orgasmic.
Still wish Liam had sang it, mind.

How does everyone think the Oasis story would of panned out if What's the Story MG was an album full of Bring It On Down sounding songs rather than the popular mainstream singalongs of WW, DLBIA etc....

Probably just another Creation band - a modest level of success and appeal but no household name.

They already had way more success than any other Creation bands before anyone heard Wonderwall or Don't Look Back In Anger. They had the fatest selling album ever at the time in UK with "Definitely Maybe", "Live Forever" was a rock hit in America (March 1995, iirc), "Whatever" was a top 10 single in Sweden and France. If they released a rockier album after DM, I think they wouldn't be as famous as they are today but quite a few rock fans would know who they are, just on "Definitely Maybe" alone.

True that, might have been more in the fame bracket of the Stone Roses with all things considering.

Talking about "what ifs", how do you think She's Electric would have done if it was released as a single instead of Roll With It ? I could see it being in their 5 most popular songs.

Country House wouldn't be talked about at all and Morning Glory would've solid 25 million copies, rather than 22 million, end of.

Two things:
Part of the Queue is severely underrated.
And
This is a damn good cover of Champagne Supernova, with a little Dear Prudence interpolation in there that's really creative:

IMHO:
Shakermaker is underrated. Acquiesce is overrater.

Still super successful (I mean, DM had Supersonic, C&A, Rock n Roll Star, Live Forever), maybe not as generational defining as they were and definitely more of a british phenomenon than a worldwide one (aside from the US)

I'm slowly becoming convinced that Heathen Chemistry is their third best album. Always gave that title to Don't Believe the Truth, but this summer I've really come around to Heathen Chemistry

Heathen Chemistry is a deplorable, despicable, abomination of a record. Shit songs, shit production and 7 of my 10 least favourite Oasis album tracks on 1 disk,
Each to their own but apart from Songbird and Born on a Different Cloud id happily never listen to any of those songs again

It's on my top 3. Yeah, I'd pick it before of BHN.

Oasis should release all the demos.
I know we got the Mustique Demos, but management should come out with all he Demos as one release.
The only demos I have are those from things like the Chasing the Sun trilogy. I rely on YouTube for all the other Demos - would be nice to have the all demos in my one accessible place (like ITunes).
Until the last couple months, I never cared about the Demos, but i have since done a full 180 and reversed my previous decision.
