I just realized that DBTT and DOYS are both really good at the beginning, but save the total shit songs for last. Probably why I can't finish either these days.

If Magic Pie was a b-side fine then, but being the only Noel sung song on the album it deserved so much better, Noel was clearly on coke, MP was supposed to be the DLBIA of BHN but failed big time.
Going Nowhere is the best Noel sung song from that era but being written in 1990 when Noel still a poor bloke from Burnage the lyrics just does not suit well the album context, maybe Flashbax would the best choice.

I guess lyrically The Fame would've fit the album as well, but I, too, find Flashbax to be superior.

Flashbax would've been a good mid-album track for when the album is starting to settle in but needs something with a certain vibe to kick in. I envision a BHN where Be Here Now is track three with the rest of the tracklist the same until after The Girl in the Dirty Shirt where you get Don't Go Away, Stay Young, All Around the World, Flashbax, Fade In-Out, It's Getting Better (Man!!) and the All Around the World Reprise (with all 12 songs at their appropriate lengths). That would be a more concerted effort toward the mood and flow of the album imo.

It seems like it is universally loved, and although I understand that it’s a great embodiment of that coke-soaked period of the band, I don’t think there’s anything more to it than that. It’s not that great live either. For me, it would be the first song to be replaced if I had to make my own BHN. What’s the matter with it?

This is so fucking amazing. Miles better than the original. The potential is there but I dunno I don't think the remix quite comes off here.

Fade in-out is bad ass. It has bad ass western vibes. One of Oasis' coolest songs.

Noel's guitar, the wall of sound, the way it goes quiet for a bit and then starts again... makes me wanna shout along with Liam every time Mamma!!

My high school yearbook quote was lyrics from Magic Pie. Just shows where my head was at in the spring of 2000. No cocaine for me but just as delusional as Noel.

This song too, with the quiet/loud dynamics in a Western music context: Yeah, very similar in sound, the trademark Bon Jovi sound, Blaze of Glory is in fact a Jon Bon Jovi solo career song, while Wanted Dead or Alive is from his band, both awesome songs.
