Although Glaso 2004 performace was so uninspired, Noel looked miserable and Liam in that white coat, watching it live at home by an accident got me into Oasis and I never left this path. Hate that performance even more now Too bad for you. Next time find a better "joke".

Hindsight is a wonderful thing...I was thinking 'What If' the other day...in an ideal world I reckon they should of only taken Gem in 1999/2000 when Bonehead & Guigs left, and just had session players on bass for the live shows.
Having two new members turned Oasis MK2 into almost a tribute band, where as I think having just Gem along with Alan White making them a 4 piece (like they did later) for photos, videos etc would of been better.
Although a talented guy, Andy Bell didn't fit in Oasis at all. Plus Noel should of written all the songs bar one from Liam for the albums that followed. Any of Gem's should of been there to fill B-Sides, which weren't as important from then onwards with the internet.

But there unbelievable ability to be a complete mess and fuck things up so incoventionally is also why it worked.

I put be here now on the car yesterday. First time Ive listened to the original d'you know what I mean? since Noel released the rethink........good fuck its bad.....I mean there is some cool stuff in the chaos that is missing from the rethink in it but I never realised just how muffled the song is in general. The chorus is near unlistenable. Its like hearing the song through a wall. the production really is bad on BHN tbh, not in its style, just its structure. Such a shame that we will likely never get an entire album of rethinks now. -------------- as for glasto 04, their biggest problem there was their playing speed. Not sure who or why they decided to play at that speed but it killed the atmosphere and just made liams voice sound even worse. They seemed to go into slow motion during 2004-2005. Glasto 04 was the worst point for that. Live gigs always sound better when played faster imo. Liam should be playing his songs faster now. Oasis sounded much better in the 90s when they were really going for it. I can't listen to the rethink, it loses the magic the original had. Always listen to the original over the rethink

I listened to the live disc of Time Flies this morning for the first time in ages. 76.29 of my life I will never get back, listening to a very talented and very pissed off rock star painfully and obviously not giving a fuck. Hard to believe that was almost 10 (!!!!) years ago. Jesus.

Oasis gave me a wonderful and cherish friendship with great friends from different countries. We don't agree all the time, but in the end it's music which brings us together.
Being on this forum for nearly 15 years, I've seen a lot of people coming and going, but it's always nice to see some old faces. (mind you, not uninvited guests)
Having new songs from both Noel and Liam, I can't complain. Life is short, so let's enjoy.

You just about nailed it right there. 👍Mine would look exactly the same except I would flip DOYS and DBTT.

I can't listen to the rethink, it loses the magic the original had. Always listen to the original over the rethink The release of DYKWIM? in July of 1997 was/is one of the defining moments of my life. I will NEVER forget how it made me feel and what it meant/means to me. All that said, the ReThink is clearly what the track was meant to be. I know Noel claims that he couldn't be arsed to finish the rest of the album that way due to laziness, but I think he heard the results and knows they blew that moment 20 years ago. He knows you can never truly rewrite history. He's comfortable with the legacy of the album at this point. I still think he should dust off a track or two from it for live shows though.

Maybe they were adjusting to him and playing it safe by slowing down a bit Live Forever from Manchester 05 is faster for example

I expect that was what it was though, I put glasto 04 through a program to adjust speed and pitch and it really sounded much better with it altered abit.

Here’s a throwback for yer - this could quite easily be the first ever successfully viral remix. Transported right back to 2005.

I remember, years ago, in a thread of people’s top 10 oasis songs, a member (can’t renember who) put down Good to be Free and Hey Now as their top 2 oasis songs.
While I wouldn’t put them as my top 2, I can’t help but notice that these are 2 songs I return to and appreciate more as I get older.

I love Good to be Free, I know a lot of people loath Noels HFB version but seeing it live made me appreciate it greatly.

Along with cast no Shadow and Champagne Supernova, Hey Now has been my in my favourite 3 off MG for the past 4-5 years.
I really wish we had a proper live version of this from the MG tour. It was supposed to be played in the US leg in 1996 but for whatever reason, never did.
I’m glad we at least have the snippet of Noel and Gem playing it in Perth 2006 during the STC tour.
