I got into oasis around 2002 and I explored their catalog song-wise, not album-wise at first
I still remember the moment when I found out that Wonderwall, Don’t Look back in anger, Some might say and champagne supernova were on the same album...

The hate is obvious surely lol. Undoubtedly 4 shit songs on there, 5 including She Is Love. Bleh. I still hold HC is better than DOYS. At least there's no boring plodders on HC.What about Little by Little? I quite like the tune, myself, but it does plod.

Lyla is proper mega. Always though the music video was cool as fuck, too. DBTT era was immense.

Even Noel says that Little by Little is far too slow on the album.

When listening to Definitely Maybe and Slide Away comes on, does anyone else just think 'Shut the fuck up Noel' during the chorus? Sounds so much better without backing vocals.

I feel this but for the live performances, especially in the later years when he's singing every other line 🙃 Definitely, later years I can understand it at least because Liam's voice needed a bit of cover. But on Slide Away I feel it is so much more powerful with Liam's raw sensational vocal. This is of course not including the other backing vocals Noel does throughout the song including the awesome 'take me there' bit at the end.

You can make a strong argument that Noel never lost his knack for song writing after the 90s.
He lost his confidence which I think really affected how he picked track listings. There are some real belters on both SOTSOG and HC, but those albums were let down due to LAG or Noel leaving on proper gems like LAMB, Idler’s Dream, etc....
DBTT was such a pivotal album. Okay, revisionists argue album sales weren’t as impressive as it may have initially looked - but that argument aside, DBTT was a return to form for Oasis, and a massive return of confidence for Noel who has been ripping it up ever since with his contributions.

Noel still rates DBTT as a good album so that must mean something considering he can sometimes be critical on other Oasis albums/songs

Hadn't heard Jonesy's Jukebox with Oasis before. Bit weird with talk about necrophilia and redheads, but Noel and Liam rarely did interviews together in later years so it's nice to hear this.

Are you referring to the pre-chorus? I tend to agree - on Definitely Maybe they are there and they grate for me personally. I am certain however that they removed them on the Stop The Clocks compilation, so some folk in management must have thought similar.

Lyla is proper mega. Always though the music video was cool as fuck, too. DBTT era was immense. That is one song that really is saved, or made, by Liam's vocals. Especially the last 'catch me when I faaaaaaaaaaaalllll.....' bit. Hearing it with Noel singing on the demo, and I think it is a terrible tune in all honesty.

Prefer erstwhile Oasis support act Soundtrack of Our Lives version myself if I'm honest
