DEFINITELY MAYBE [1994]1) Rock 'n' Roll Star [Radio Edit] 2) Bring it on Down 3) Live Forever 4) Half the World Away 5) Columbia 6) Supersonic 7) Cigarettes & Alcohol 8) Listen Up [Edited] 9) Slide Away 10) Sad Song 11) Whatever 1. Rock 'n' roll star (fade out before the It's just rock 'n' roll part) 2. Fade away 3. Live forever 4. Up in the sky 5. Listen up (slightly shortened) 6. Supersonic 7. Cigarettes & alcohol 8. Sad song (Liam on vocals) 9. Slide away 10. Whatever I checked now and it would have the same duration (minus/plus a second or two) as the original album! No Columbia? Also, I don't like putting Listen Up and Supersonic next to each other as their intros are so similar.

Should change that...hmm. Maybe switch places with Slide away.

Oasis are my favourite band ever. They mean so much to me. Every song and every album means something, even if it's shit like She Is Love. Heroes.

I watched the "Dig Out Your Soul" making of video yesterday whilst bathing and in it Noel says he wrote "Shock Of The Lightning" and two others (I forget which) in the studio from nothing. So much for him saying he's never done it before. Big liar.

'(As Long As They've Got) Cigarettes In Hell' might be their most underrated song. It's so atomspheric and clever. An easy replacement for Sunday Morning Call. I love it, apart from the guitar solo which seems very much half arsed tbhWhat about this?

So much for him saying he's never done it before. Big liar. I don't think he necessarily meant they were constructed in the studio. They were written during the recording sessions but I do recall him saying he wrote the bulk of those songs one weekend at home. It's actually quite worrying to think what Dig Out Your Soul would have been like without those two songs, they really are the only truly memorable moments in my opinion (I like I'm Outta Time, just a shame it was ridiculously Beatlefied in the studio).

love the shakers during Outta Time's second chorus. what a phenomenal song. the instrumental is mega. could have done without the lalalalala's at the start.

I agree about the intro to an otherwise mega tune...so, a few years ago I edited the open from the Standing On The Edge Of The Noise version to the studio version (made the edit on the downbeat right before Rkid's vocal) and it works perfectly, only version I listen to. Here's a link to my edit if anyone's interested in having a listen - Cheers drive.google.com/file/d/1H31PldoAgw4NMgHXY_h9eGIUcLohJVNw/view?usp=sharing

I really like the remix of I'm Outta Time. It retains the feel but sounds fresher.

I keep thinking like that, but then I'll hear an Oasis song being played on the radio and I won't be able to stop myself from going "G'wan!". I could give you ten million reasons to not be bothered about either of them, but I still fucking love them.

"Hello" should have the production template for Oasis. It's rock 'n' roll - but the bass is clear, the drums are solid, the guitar lines are clear, and the whole thing has a nice sense of space without coming across as polished or clean. If Be Here Now had had the same sound (and The Masterplan + Going Nowhere), it would have been truly unreal.

Had BHN the same polished sound as WTS, then it would have appealed more to the masses....BUT, it probably would have lost some of that unique wild, crazy, chaos magic that makes BHN an exceptional record in its own right.

I think as long as it got the balance right (imagine if the DYKWIM rethink had some thick, dark guitar layers in the bridge+chorus, and the original mental outro/intro) then it would have been the best of both worlds. Not as spacious as WTS, but never stupidly compressed and noisy. A record that rocks, while still getting radio play. EDIT: And what the fuck is Whitey playing at on this album? The little drum machine on the Mustique Demos sound 100x better than him on loads of tunes.

In art therapy today, the therapist asked me what music to put on. I told her Oasis, but not Wonderwall. As the sound of a jet began to play, I was surprised she put on D’You Know What I Mean. As that track ended, and faded into guitar feedback of My Big Mouth, it was clear that she was playing the full Be Here Now album of 1997. I expressed my surprise at her choice, and she told me she loves that album. And with that I was able to brainwash my peers with the brilliance of Oasis. It’s all about the little things. By the end, everyone was mad fer it, I am certain. guigsysEstring
