If I posted this what Star Wars movie am I discussing? 1. A small droid that contains classified and important information gets to a desert planet. 2. The villains attacks that planet, looking for the droid. 3. The Droid gets in the hands of a young, force sensitive person. 4. The Person has to escape the planet from the villains and does so via the Millenium Falcon. 5. The young force Sensitive Person gets transported by none other than Han Solo. 6. A girl gets kidnapped and held captive at the villain's base. 7. There exists a giant weapon capable of destroying a planet. 8. Rescue mission to save a girl trapped in the villain's fortress. 9. The mentor character dies at the villains base 10. A squadron of the best resistence pilots attack and destroy the giant weapon.

Also why was Kylo Ren really not great with his lightsaber? Should've literally killed Finn instantly with his abilities surely??? Conversely, Cinemassacre pointed out another question ... how was a former stormtrooper able to take not just any lightsaber but Anakin and Luke's and use it proficiently straight away?

I thought Starkiller base was cool as f*ck, it could wipe out multiple planets and was charged by the planetary system's sun. A solar powered multi-planet destroying giant ass death star!
And it is easily destroyed like in A New Hope and Return of the Jedi.

Lennon2217 , all I need to know is your reaction to Han's death. You probably looked like this I imagine:

Lennon2217 , all I need to know is your reaction to Han's death. You probably looked like this I imagine: Han's death was one of the worst kept secrets in Hollywood. That plot point leaked 15-17 months ago. Plus we've all known for decades that Harrison Ford wanted Han dead in Jedi but Lucas over ruled everyone. The impact of his death might have hit harder if that wasn't the first and only scene we ever got with Han and Ben.

I was going in completely blind outside a few plot points from concept art. There were rumors last April 2014 that Harrison Ford only agreed to return if Han Solo died. He's been very anti-Star Wars since The Empire Strikes Back. Shit, he didn't even want to do Return of The Jedi. After that, he basically was Star Wars free for 30 years which is what he always wanted.

Conversely, Cinemassacre pointed out another question ... how was a former stormtrooper able to take not just any lightsaber but Anakin and Luke's and use it proficiently straight away? I agree Finn was too good with the lightsaber(possibly has the force?) Ren was injured. Yes hes a Jedi but he is also human. He was shot in the side with Chewies crossbow. I personally can't rank The Force Awakens higher than 4th because it literally is a direct copy of A New Hope in terms of plot points and story movement. JJ has always been a derivative filmmaker. This seals it. 1. Empire 2. A New Hope 3. Jedi 4. Force Awakens * I do not recognize the prequels. Its a direct copy in some way of all the originals Posted this in other thread but anyway... My Theory and it's just a theory is that Rey is Luke's daughter who he hid from everything by putting her on Jakku to keep her away from the force because Snoke would be after her the same way he got Kylo Ren. Luke didn't want Rey to go through what Kylo went through. That's why she can clearly use the force and has something 'special' about her. Just a theory. My theory is that she is his daughter and he trained her at a young age. . At some point he did some type ofJedi mind trick so she would forget him and hide her force abilities. Some thoughts on the movie. . First the positives. This felt like a Star Wars movie unlike the prequels. No walking and talking in front of blue screens. It felt like they were in actual environments. It was funny but not corny or juvenile. All the actors were great w/ the exception of Fisher, who it looked like they dug up from the dead. The three young leads were the best part of the movie. Some negatives. Some plot points were too convenient. (Finding the falcon, and how characters were introduced to each other) I said earlier that this felt like a Star Wars movie but the scene where the monsters are released on Han and Chewies ship is ridiculous. Its one of the least Stat Wars moment in the franchise including the prequels. . It felt like something that belongs in Guardians of the Galaxy or the new Star Trek reboot. Some of the cgi looks bad. Snoke looks like a cartoon. Another Death Star.

Add that to the fact that he was injured + Finn is well trained in combat and was full of adrenaline whereas Kylo Ren was probably a bit drained after just murdering his father!

I'm glad I went into the film not knowing any of the major plot points that many are saying they already knew, that must really have taken away from how much you could enjoy the film.
Sure it probably lent on the plot from A New Hope a bit too much but I'd rather they played it safe than do something completely different that ends up being shit.
I don't think the complaints of fan service are warrented at all really. We could have had a resurrected Vader teaming up with Luke, Han and Leia to destroy a clone of the Emperor but we didn't.

I really enjoyed the scene on the freighter with the space gangs after Han, it felt very original and unlike anything we'd ever seen before in Star Wars to me.

So Luke at the end... has he turned to the dark side or is he just really, really hungover?

I'd rate the films right now as this: Empire Strikes Back A New Hope The Force Awakens Return of the Jedi Revenge of the Sith The Phantom Menance Attack of the Clones Exactly what I said coming out of the cinema. Spot on really. Han's death was the hardest but completely understandable, and poetic in a way... overall can't wait to go see it again to refine some of my thoughts. One thing's for sure though, a flawed film, but it's better than the prequels!

So Luke at the end... has he turned to the dark side or is he just really, really hungover? Awesome scene but his fucking "hood"? I dont know the word in english, falls wrong. It looks a bit funny Gotta say he has an amazing beard and he probably blamed himself for losing kylo ren to the dark side so he run away just like obi wan did. I really hope that mark hamill improved his acting skills, it seems like hes got an important role for the next movie and after seeing leia beeing fat, with a rough voice and a botox face (someone on reddit said they might even used a bit cgi for her face ) i dont want the next movie to be ruined by bad acting. So luke is probably Reys father or he teached her at very young age together with kylo ren because both seemed to know each other. I dont think he moved to the dark side although that would have been an awesome plot.

Snoke looks like a cartoon. Another Death Star. I'm with you on many things. I really enjoyed the film. I'll give it an enthusiastic 8.5 out of 10. My nit picking includes............ - Leia did look wooden with her acting. Her face barely moves, its all duck lips. - I hated the monsters chasing everyone on that ship. Like you said, very Star Trek. We barely knew who those gangs were. Everything felt forced and rushed. I'd rather have seen what happened with Poe on Jakku, about that........ - Oscar Isaac was criminally underused in this film. He is the best new actor in the ranks. I hated how JJ completely glossed over his own escape from Jakku. That one line of dialogue was a cop out. "Oh i got thrown from the fighter, woke up in darkness and you were gone." Then he's leading the x-wing rescue mission. Come on JJ! - Never getting another scene with Han and Luke is gonna be sad. - Snoke wasn't as cool looking as I wanted. Too Lord of The Rings. - Did we need another death star? NO! They could have just made that a base. We don't even know what worlds the first order destroyed. We aren't emotionally invested in them yet. Also, was it just me or was this the easiest death star to take down? You know the one 100 times larger than the second death star.

Luke takes it and screams "I have no daughter!!" And *zam* lops her head off with one cut of his blade. Only joking, I don't think Luke's gone to the dark side. He looks like he could do with a good nights sleep though!

I dont think they will make a luke a bad guy, its one of those things that people would just kick off about, and with him refusing to join the dark side etc in the original trilogy only for him to do so off camera after fighting darth vadar and getting the emperor killed etc? wouldnt make much sense.
