Damn... he's gonna win the Golden Slam, is he? Yeah, I have no idea who can beat him in the USO. Medvedev will probably be the biggest outsider and everyone remembers the last AO final. Djokovic is gonna explode every record, the Next Gen has no solution, and to be fair, it's not the same galaxy (yet) in every way: technically, tactically, mentally.

Djokovic is gonna explode every record, the Next Gen has no solution, and to be fair, it's not the same galaxy (yet) in every way: technically, tactically, mentally. I wouldn't hand him the trophy quite yet. Shapovalov and Berrettini are hardly the best of the Next Gen. And Djokovic has not done as well at the USO as at other Slams. A healthy Thiem has and can beat him. Tsitsipas on his best day can challenge Djoko, though he has yet to find his best in a Slam. I don't quite think Sinner's quite ready for prime time this year, though he will be a threat soon. Outside of the Next Gen, a well-rested Nadal who has done nothing but practice on hard courts for months will be a serious threat, especially if Djokovic plays the Olympics. Kyrgios another floater capable on a good day of taking out Djokovic were they to unluckily meet in an early round (and then Kyrgios would promptly lose next round to everyone's annoyance.)

I know it's technically not ATP but what an unbelievable achievement for Raducanu. Truly remarkable run to come through qualies to the title without even being taken to a tie-break and not dropping a set. GOAT performance.

Definitely not a performance likely to be repeated at any time soon, if ever in our lifetimes. She had a somewhat favorable draw in the first week, but really proved herself in the second. Remarkably, she earned so many points coming from the quailes to win that even if she wins the US Open again next year, she will actually lose points that cannot be defended! She's about to be such a massive star with her looks and poise as well, hope she learns fast how to balance it all. Has proved tough for many. 2022 should be a very interesting year in women's tennis. Curious to see if these youngsters start to dominate or if there continues to be a different winner at every Slam.

It is wonderful to see the Gammon be so hypocritical over Raducanu - an immigrant representing the UK and making them so proud to be British. Andy Murray can stop living in their heads rent free now.
So good to see her wearing the colours of the Romanian flag too.

I’ve rectified the title of the thread… an accidental oversight! Thank you.

Not exactly a classic match, alas, but Medvedev had every reason to be as nervous as Djokovic and still managed to grab his first slam from a full stadium rooting heavily against him. If we're lucky (and it might take a lot of luck given everything going on with them and the world), maybe all 3 of the "Big Three" will go for #21 simultaneously at the 2022 AO. But as the years roll on, there's also an increasing chance someone else will upset that quest ... Also should be interesting to see if Emma and Daniil can defend these shock wins a year from now.

He's had a great year, seems to finally be clicking for him. Wee bit of luck with the draw but can only beat what's put in front of you. His performance against Schwartzman was immense and he absolutely destroyed him.

Agree -- there are no asterisks. You play the draw you get and if you're still standing at the end, you're the legit winner. He had to get through Dimitrov, who looked red-hot (though he cooled right off after two tough matches.) And Basilashvili was playing great, took out #2 seed Tsitsipas, and truly looked like he was going to win in the second. So getting through that match was not luck! He might even make the ATP Finals (will be close).

History Made As Djokovic Secures Record-Breaking Seventh Year-End No. 1
Novak Djokovic has made history again. The Serbian today secured the year-end No. 1 FedEx ATP Ranking for a record seventh time, eclipsing the mark previously he shared with American Pete Sampras.
