At this point, if Roger doesn't win a non-clay event I'm just happy if Rafa doesn't. Gotta keep those records. Well done Novak for taking the Spanish bull out - pretty dull Wimbledon in all, though, other than Djoko-Nadal. Even Anderson-Isner, for it's lengthy drama, was mainly chisseled by errors. Hope Roger gets a long rest and comes out swinging for the US. 37 years old and when he's playing well, still the best player in the world.

Pretty much the opposite of dull? Would've been the match of the tournament if not for the next semifinal. I'd also argue Nadal is the best player in the world, what with the better showing at Wimbledon and the higher ranking, if only by 1 rank....

Turn on your TV, you have Stephens - Mertens and Del Potro - Coric in a row for the night session.

Great time for tennis, new generation is coming. After Wimbledon semifinals where everyone were over 30 years old, now we have Delpo and he is only 29 (he will be 30 in a few days) and great new young talent Nishikori and he is only 28 (and 9 months).

Hehe indeed Current Top 10 under age 25 + best result in GS Zverev (QF 2018 FO) Tsitsipas (4R 2018 WB) Edmund (SF 2018 AO) Coric (4R 2018 USO) Pouille (QF 2016 USO) Chung (SF 2018 AO) Khachanov (4R 2017-2018 FO, 2018 WB) Kyrgios (QF 2014 WB, QF 2015 AO) Shapovalov (4R 2017 USO) Medvedev (3R 2018 WB, USO) 10 years ago top 10 under 25 + best result in GS Nadal (5 GS titles) Djokovic (1 GS titles) Murray (F 2008 USO) Wawrinka (4R 2007-2008 USO, 2008 WB) Gasquet (SF 2007 WB) Del Potro (QF 2008 USO) Verdasco (5 4R) Simon (4 3R) Almagro (QF 2008 FO) Tsonga (F 2008 AO) 3 of them are in the USO semi finals 10 years after... Just shows how great those players are. And how hard it is for new generation to replace them.

And 10 or more years ago, young players had to play against GOAT in his prime (3 Grand Slams in 2006 and 3 in 2007). Playing against 2018 versions of Roger, Rafa and Nole is not the same like playing against 2006/2007 version of Federer. Plus, if you were not called Nadal, you couldn´t even think about winning RG. It was much harder for young players 10 years ago, although it maybe looks on paper that it is harder for kids today because they have to play against Novak-Rafa-Roger but they are not those Novak, Rafa and Roger in their prime that we remember.
Roger from 2006 (24-25 years old), Rafa from 2010 (23-24) and Novak from 2011 (23-24) would be so dominant today, I doubt that they would even lose a single match. Young players are not even close to be on the level of Andy, Delpo and Stan. Oh shit, it´s going to be like women´s tennis few years from now :-)

Oh shit, it´s going to be like women´s tennis few years from now :-) The thing is that period was/is so unbelievable, it's gotta be impossible for new generation to reach these heights. Now, I think Zverev has lot of talent. Not a biggest fan of his game (I like it though) but if you look at the 15 last n°1 and their wins against top 10 players at the (approximatively)same age of Zverev ... Hewitt (40) Nadal (30) Sampras (28) Murray (21) Djokovic (19) Federer (19) Kafelnikov (19) Agassi (17) Zverev (15) Ferrero (10) Rios (10) Moya (9) Roddick (8) Kuerten (4) Muster (3) Rafter (3) You see the german isn't that far. Now he needs to get better results in Grand Slams. Except him, I'll say Tsitsipas, Coric, Shapovalov, De Minaur, Khachanov, Auger Aliassime, Chung, Tiafoe (just to name a few) could do great things. Guess we'll see in a few years.

This will be the first Grand Slam that Djokovic won where he didn't have to defeat Roger or Rafa.

Didn't see the match (on the road), happy Osaka won but what happened with Serena ? she had a complete meltdown after she got a warning for coaching, then broke a raquet, then called the umpire thief -among other things- so got a point deducted. She was very arrogant the whole thing was very awkward and unfair to Osaka who played superbly and deserved to win without having the whole crowd booing her

Umpire hates her because she has a daughter. And she is woman.
