I wondered if anyone here could help me?
for the past 2-3 weeks, new tabs keep loading up of adverts, etc.
for e.g. when i click on sign in to log in to ebay, another tab will apear with an advert, i click off it, then when i click to type in user name, the same thing happens again, & adverts appear at the bottom right of the screen & along the top.
would a system restore help?
I use google chrome as my browser. Any help would be appreciated. It's very annoying now, i just feel like breaking it.

If you haven't done so already, download an adware remover and see if it finds anything. If you're using Windows, this is quite a good one I think. www.bitdefender.co.uk/solutions/adware-removal-tool-for-pc.htmlI've fixed a couple of laptops that have had similar problems and malware/adware seemed to be the main cause of it. If you don't have it, get a free trial of Malwarebytes. What AV software are you running? A system restore would be an absolute last resort.

Basically get Malwarebytes, activate the free 15 day trial of premium, then buy the $25 a year version (better and cheaper than anything from Norton, etc.) and you're set. I run MS security essentials as well but the detection rate on it is meh at best, only finds really bad ones. I still have my lifetime subscription with malwarebytes because I got it early before they released the 2.0 version. As for other tools for cleaning get Ccleaner like Rain said and just go wipe out any temp files, registry handlers, etc. Also, check out unchecky which will automatically uncheck the boxes in software installs that can install unwanted toolbars, search pages, and other bloatware, and after a while, you never even notice it running.

If songbird11 really needs a key my box is opened. I'd rather help someone. Sometimes viruses and malware is a stressful situation. Besides Norton is a joke anymore.

Malwarebytes whole '3 pc's per key' system is flawed and I've used the same key on 5 different systems. I could send him mine and see if it works if he wants it.

This is why people don't like those of us who use Macs. Macs are designed nice, but it plays in it's own expensive sandbox. Too much for my blood and I've never get the satisfaction from it either. My suggestion, If anyone wants Mac OS, then make a hackintosh. For heck of amount cheaper too.

Exactly, I could even build a cheaper box with Ubuntu/Debian or another distro of Linux that gives you the same advantages. Hackintoshes are alot more affordable and customizable than Mac Pro's.

This is why people don't like those of us who use Macs. I think some of it is they hate that we are so happy with our overpriced Macs. Rain and I have gone back and forth about Apple vs PC before and he definitely knows more about computers than I will ever know. However, you could never convince me to buy another windows computer again.

Near all use a graphic interface OS. It's what OS you like, Linux distros, Android, Chromebook OS, Windows or Mac X OS. Still, Apple makes hardware as well. Over charging hardware and putting special screws in is there moto. Make it near impossible to upgrade. Remember personal computers started as a hobbyist thing and Apple has forgotten that long time ago.

Over charging hardware and putting special screws in is there moto. Make it near impossible to upgrade. Remember personal computers started as a hobbyist thing and Apple has forgotten that long time ago. I'll never get the Mac vs PC war. The only difference is the OS. Macs have Intel processors just like Windows machines do. Macs used to have PowerPC though until '05. Also you can get PCI express SSD's in your own custom system just like the SSD in a Mac Pro. Like Rain said it comes down to your preferred OS. I built my desktop mainly for gaming and could easily turn it into a Hackintosh if I wanted to. One big thing I don't understand Apple is when it comes to the resolution of their monitors. A thunderbolt screen which is 1440p costs way more than a acer 1440p monitor. Here is an Acer 1440p 27" that is $280 on Amazon compared to an Apple Thunderbolt display which is $950 and has the same specs. www.amazon.com/Acer-G257HU-smidpx-25-Inch-Widescreen/dp/B00QS0AKVK/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1428258162&sr=8-3&keywords=1440pwww.amazon.com/Apple-Thunderbolt-Display-MC914LL-VERSION/dp/B004YLCKYABesides the Thunderbolt having more ports and a built in webcam, the Acer has a 6ms response time where the Apple one is 12ms. Seems that the Thunderbolt is a suped up 1440p monitor, and that's it.

I have a MacBook Pro which I am very happy with and use as my main computer. It's largely down to the OS that I like it, although the trackpad is the best I've ever used by a fair margin. I do have a Linux machine with a couple of Distros on it and like switching between OS X and Linux because of the similarities of the command line. The customisation options are excellent and do allow you to build your OS form the ground up if you want to.
I did finally manage to set up a Windows 10 VM but I barely use it. I have had a decent bit of experience with Windows through the years from school through to university and at work as well. It's certainly the most popular by a long way so it has to be learned.
At the end of the day though, they're only operating systems which should be used as tools.
