Hey Noel, maybe it’s not that I’m a parka monkey (I’ve actually never worn a parka in my life)....
...maybe it’s just that your new song sounds like some ungodly and endlessly obnoxious mashup of Ricky Martin and the Wiggles...
...but nah, don’t mind me. Clearly I’m just a common pigeon who can’t fathom the brilliance of a soaring eagle...
...I’ll let you get back to your diet.

I like how we're not supposed to take Liam's tweets seriously yet people are acting like Noel said he's gonna bomb North Korea.
Why do people care so damn much about what the Gallaghers say? It's clear at this point that both brothers are feeding into this drama precisely because it attracts publicity. I don't think that anyone on this forum should feel personally offended by what Noel or Liam says about fans. Honestly, who gives a fuck what they think as long as they release good music. If they want to take cheap shots at each other or even each other's fanbases, that's their problem, not mine.

Why is everyone assuming Noel is taking a dig at the fans not liking Holy Mountain? I immediately took it that way, without being influenced by this board or any other social media. For me it seemed pretty cut and dry, the steps being as follows: 1. HM doesn’t perform NEARLY as well as his lead singles from his previous two albums (which debuted in the top 20 and top 30 respectively while HM debuts only in the 70s) 2. Noel is angered by this... 3. He blames old school Oasis fans (beer swilling, closed minded, parka monkeys) for not being able to wrap their heads around his brilliant new direction... 4. He posts video of positive response from (U2) audience to vindicate himself and lash out at his perceived enemies. (The ones who, incidentally, afforded him the life he lives today.) Maybe you’re right and I - and many others - are wrong. But if so, he should make himself more clear. It’s funny, up until recently the whole “working class traitor” image Liam has portrayed Noel as being had seemed like a one dimensional parody. Now it’s starting to feel disturbingly spot on. Never mind this pigeon/parka monkey though.

I like how we're not supposed to take Liam's tweets seriously yet people are acting like Noel said he's gonna bomb North Korea. Because on the one hand, when pressed, Liam has repeatedly said that “our kid” is a great songwriter who he “loves” and hopes the two can “become brothers” before even thinking about working together again. While on the other hand Noel simply dismisses “the singer” from his former band as being “crazy” and/or a “common pigeon” and gets noticeably annoyed when an interviewer even suggests that the two love each other. Obviously anyone who knows anything about the Gallaghers knows they can both be idiots. But playing the false equivalency game at this point is either uninformed or simply lazy.

You're missing my main point, and that is, who cares? I don't care whatsoever who's the "better brother". I don't care if Noel is resentful of Liam. I don't care if Liam still shows some affection for Noel. I'm not going to "be the judge" of who's more in the right nor am I going to psychoanalyze them to determine their motivations because I simply don't care. And why should you? How does what either Gallagher says about the other affect you in any way? Why should you bother to leap to the defense of a celebrity you don't know? This isn't aimed at you, this is a message for everyone who takes these things way too seriously. There's so many things you can get angry about instead. Like world hunger. And corporate consolidation. And media outlets who really do play the false equivalency game.

Like a tv show they love or sports team they support or a novel they’ve invested their time in. Yes we could talk about world hunger or corporate consolidation or media outlets. But we’re on an OASIS forum. So some people on it are discussing the Gallagher brothers’ recent shenanigans. If the conversation doesn’t interest you, fair enough! But who walks into a party just to barge into people’s conversations shouting “WHO CARES?!?!” There are plenty of topics discussed here that don’t interest me, but I just let the people who are into them have at it and wait for one to come along I want to join. No one’s forcing you to take part if you feel it’s a waste of time.

Hey man, whatever gets you some entertainment being a Gallagher fan these days. It’s not like the great records are falling from the sky like they once were. Might as well get some giggles from drama at the very least.

This is the problem with social media these days. A celeb types out a Tweet (or rather his PR team do) and everyone jumps on it immediately, trying to dissect it from every angle possible.
At least with LG we know he writes his Tweets - AND he gets pleasure from being on Twitter to wind people up.
This NG Tweet - do we know Noel wrote it himself? It is not as confrontational as some of LG's tweets, and seems to have only winded up people on here who do not like HM. That's how I am seeing this at the moment anyway.
Knowing NG's sense of humour too, if he did write it then I guess it's not meant to be taken that seriously, but judging by the hysterical cries on this thread, then it has obviously backfired.

I have to admit I'm quite partial to the odd parka. I'm also partial to a change in direction/sound from a musician that's (arguably) gotten a little stale. However it helps if the first track from said new direction isn't shite.

'There's not a day goes by when I don't wish I could rock a parka like that man [Liam].'
Noel has Parka envy. That's what the all the fights have been about. It so obvious.
