I have to say, having heard it properly now, there isn't a song that I don't like. The transitions between the tracks work really well. Riverman, Lock All the Doors, Dying Of The Light, Right Stuff, While The Song Remains The Same, You Know We Can't Go Back, Mighty I are all absolutely brilliant. And the wah wah sounds in The Mexican are one of my favourite things about that song. The mastering appears to be good as well from what I can hear and the vocals are at the right level in the mix. A top album. When you don't have iTunes

Remember when Dave Sardy wanted "The Good Rebel" on DBTT. Thank fuck cooler heads prevailed. Remember when Dave Sardy was a good producer? Because I can't. Was he ever a good producer? He was just a guy at the right time and place. His resume doesn't scream "Let's hire this guy!!!". I think after recording DBTT 3-4 times, Noel was getting desperate.

There is no going back.

We as fans have a duty to tell him at all the gigs that Sardy is no longer wanted for any future album. Huge banners need to commissioned with "Fuck Dave Sardy" emblazoned in big red lettering and advertising space should be bought around every arena to convey a similar message.

Have to say that The Dying of the Light sounds amazing. It's gone up a lot in estimations. It's gone from just an average Noel by the numbers song to a near classic and I don't like calling things "classics", but damn that's a good.

If you want to "rip" the album so you can listen to it without a stream: 1) Load up the stream, play it. 2) Download/install "Fiddler" www.telerik.com/download/fiddler. This is just a program that tells you what HTTP packets are doing on your machine. Its basically a utility, nothing illegal. The similar tool for a MAC is called "HTTP Scoop". Just Google it. You can use this program to capture ANYTHING that is streaming, so its useful past this. It keeps quality. 3) With Fiddler open, it'll start listing a bunch of stuff, you're looking for an iTunes link, eventually you'll see it pop up. The stream has to be playing during this step so it picks up the data coming to your computer. 4)In the "Hosts" column, you'll see a couple of things -for me it was 2- that pop up that start with "promotions.itunes.com". This is the stream. Right click, go to copy, select "Just URL". Plug the URL into any browser, it'll download an M4P file. Its about 84 MB. Its the full album. You can only play M4P in iTunes and there's no way to convert it, but if your internet is shitty or you want to use it on iTunes to stream to another device, it makes it a lot more stable. 256kpbs, standard iTunes quality. I dont know if sharing M4P files is even possible or if theres metadata embedded, so its best if you want the iTunes rip to do this yourself.

From an Apple-phobe:
How do you skip forward to later tracks? It's playing away here but I haven't got past Riverman yet.

It just says "Tunnel to" for iTunes. Not sure what I'm doing wrong. I have the stream playing right now.

I was fiddling about with Wireshark to no avail. This worked brilliantly.

It doesn't seem to be finding the stream for me. It just says "Tunnel to" for iTunes. Not sure what I'm doing wrong. I have the stream playing right now. I'm trying to re-create your issue and I have no idea what it means by saying Tunnel to. It doesnt do that for me. If you're on a proxy or VPN that may be why, but I really dont know. I did notice however, that if you start Fiddler, and THEN start the stream, that works too and it may pop up more instantaneously that way.

So as I've said previously, I have the stream file. It was in a totally different file, so I've gone ahead and re-recorded it to remove the DRM off the file. Now after re-recording, looking at the waveform, no skips are present. I'm splitting the files to their respective Track Times now.
But more later.
BTW: @ooooooo, I've done that, FYI. Fiddler is an amazing program!
More later though, everyone.

You can't convert M4P, so if you used something like Total Recorder or Audacity (etc) to create a wave, if you go to MP3 you lose data. Its up to you to do what you want with it, but not something you want to spread. IMO its too much work for something we'll have a direct rip of in 2-3 days when its out in Japan.

This is a right bastard to transcode. Even FFMpeg doesn't work.
