I remember some of Mark Coyle's comments almost a year ago now. "Noel's new album is fucking great"
"That boy is from a different planet, and even the fans won't believe how utterly amazing it is"
"The new record will be seismic. It's so explosive that, on the day it comes out, Virgin Trains won’t be able to cope with all the people trying to flee the chaos"The last quote describes exactly this forum on leak day. It seems he was right about the other things as well. I was sure it was all hype when he compared another Oasis related album to Definitely Maybe. I was trying to find the corresponding Noel interview but couldn't. Anyway, all of those Mark Coyle quotes (from February 2014 if I remember right) were intentionally provoked by Noel. Coyle had been visiting the recording sessions for Chasing Yesterday, while he was promoting the reissue of Definitely Maybe (because hands down, without Mark Coyle there wouldn't have been any bonus tracks to include), and he was instructed by Noel to tell the press what you've quoted basically. It's just old mates playing an inside joke, even though some of it turned out to be true (e.g. that it's great). Ah, that makes sense. It did seem like a bit of a piss take, especially the bit about Virgin Trains. I do remember Noel joking about some of the quotes on Sky Sports but can't remember what he said.

Signed up to post some trufax for you guys:
Riverman - 9/10 ITHOTM - NAHNAHNAHNAHNAH NAHNAH NAHNAHNAHNAHNAH NAHNAH/10 TGWTXRE - Good acronym 9/10 LATD - Maybe it's just the leak's quality but this song sounds pretty fucked, so assuming it's just the leak: 7.5/10. Otherwise someone's getting sacked. TDOTL - 9.5/10 Imagine if 'If I Had a Gun' sounded this good! TRS - 8/10 WTSRTT - 8.5/10 - sounds the closest of any of these songs to the first HFB album, minus the eno shit at the start TM - this song only just works - just. wahwahwahwahwahwahwahwahwahwahwah/10 YKWCGB - You guys are saying that this sounds like a BHN song, but that's definitely not true because I can actually hear bass on this song. 8.5/10 BOTMI - 8/10
It's the best thing he's done since BHN. Marginally better than the first NGHFB and wayyyyyyyyyyyyyyy better than Beady Eye.

If it's not written by Noel or Liam, it isn't Oasis as far as I'm concerned. I would go one step further and remove another one... I don't know mate, Little James is up there with 'Supersonic' and 'Live Forever' easily!! dem lyrics man!! I got "live for your toys, even though they make noise" and "you swam the oceans like a child" tattooed on me.

How can you even mention Little James in the same sentence as Live Forever and Supersonic? Little James is vastly superior.

Can't believe you didn't even get "I sing this song just for you, your mum and the dog" or "have you ever played with plasticine, or even tried a trampoline" tattooed on you. Tsk tsk.

It hit me the other day that Chasing Yesterday is the most anticipated album I have to look forward to for quite some time. That is unless the spirit of Kurt Cobain records a new album, or the spirits of John Lennon and George Harrison rise from the dead and the Beatles get back together; maybe the Rolling Stones are transported back to their songwriting prime.
Weird.
Thanks.

Up there with WTSMG in my opinion right now. Obviously we're talking musically here rather than impact, importance etc. (cause nothing Noel (or anyone else) could make right now could ever replicate that.).

I do highly anticipate Radiohead's album, but I look forward to Chasing Yesterday more, whether I like Chasing Yesterday more is another story. I also look forward to the Libertines album, still don't know what to expect from that, hopefully they put effort into the album. Tame Impala's album and Arcade Fire's next album are also on the list, but again, I anticipate Chasing Yesterday more. Oasis-related music will always be most intriguing to me, it's my jam. I don't really relate to new bands.....I hear great songs, but I can't really relate to the bands. So yeah, Chasing Yesterday is the most anticipated album for me for the foreseeable futute, it's weird. I'm old....I'm sure a band will come along like an Oasis or Nirvana, and I'm sure I'll like it but it won't be the same. God bless.

After Chasing Yesterday (which I downloaded), I am most looking forward to Radiohead, followed by Tame Impala hopefully later this year. I don't expect another Arcade Fire album for another 16-18 months at best.

Well, the album is really really good. My only problem with Chasing Yesterday is that it lacks THAT single.

Well, the album is really really good. My only problem with Chasing Yesterday is that it lacks THAT single Yeah, maybe it lacks, but then again i love the record because it's not 3 killer singles + fillers type of album, which happened a few times in Noel's career. This one is very plain, all the songs are really good, they work great together as an album, collection of songs. My only problem with Chasing Yesterday is that Dying Of The Light is too fuckin' long, it should be the 3,4 minutes long kind of tune. I caught myself checking how long it plays while listening, it was 3 minutes and i was actually wondering what happens in this song for the next 2 minutes... Nothing.

I've probably listened to Riverman 100 times in a row by now. I love the way the horns sound like they're off in the background or playing through an old TV or something. Love the Santana-like guitar solo. Love the soft teasing piano chords. He's seriously knocked this song out of the park. It's a masterpiece.

Am I the only one who thinks that the 'It's aaaaaalright' of YKWCGB is the same of TMOS?

I've been onboard since 94' and what I've always liked most about the band- which comes as a bit of a shock to the unlearned- is their (Noel's) versatility- or at the very least: varying influences.
Yep. Ballads. Punk. Rock. Psych. Pop rock...more electronica going on then most would ever realize. There's a ton of variance in their canon- especially when you add in their B-sides which are still prolly stronger than any other outfit over the last 30 years.
So that all said, I think you could argue that this is the MOST eclectic a Gallagher's ever sounded on record.
And sometimes it doesn't work, but about 7 out of 10 times it's good to fantastic. Riverman, DOTL, LATD, TRS, YKWCGB, make the point pretty damn well.
The record SOUNDS great too, which is pretty much a brand new sunrise altogether for an Oasis/Gallagher outing as they all sound just decent to total shit.

The first minute or so of the "In The Heat of The Moment" remix from the deluxe edition reminds me of how U2 sounded on POP. That's a good thing.

Noel should hire Flood and Howie B who produced that album. At the very least, someone like him, like he did seeking out David Holmes. Hopefully he looks down that avenue for the next album.

After listening to BOTMI two times in a row, I felt myself starting to want to dance to it near the end of the second listen. I don't think I've ever had that with any other NG-penned/non-remix/Gallagher-related tune, besides In the Heat of the Moment. Well done, Noel. I am thoroughly excited to hear the rest of what's to come in about a week's time.

I'd like to see many shades of Noel. His pop rock albums like HFB and CY but also an electronic and acoustic album.
