Mayweather has lost a lot of respect in my view. A lot of respect ........ Styles make fights , and although manny has lost a few his style is not what may weather wanted he is more concerned about marketing and going undefeated , he treats like buisness ( which it is , but that tarnishes him )
The fight is already ruined as they won't be in prime , especially manny so we never will know at there peak who was better ..may weather may have been and he certainly would have the edge in judges mind cause of his reputation and nature of scoring .
this is why I lost a lot of respect for sugar ray Leonard most here have only seen him on tape like ALI and just read the hype Like ALI so much is forgotten
First off he was, losing to tommy heans in there epic welterweight title fight and needed to my to run out of gas in the 14 th and he knocked him out Angelo Dundee famously told him he was losing the fight in the corner. Hearns outboxed him in there prime ( a round they would never reach todsy and hearns wins ) He made tommy wait a decade for the rematch tommy destroyed him yet the fight was scored a draw ....a absolute joke
He did same to duran ...duran tried for years to get a third fight , Ray again waited TIL he was 40
And he did to hagler exactly what floyd is doing to manny. Waiting for him to age , and Marvin beat ráy in that fight another boxing travesty your supposed to beat the champion ráy did not beat Marvin ,,,,people only read the hype today ,

This fight (if it happens) would be the way to end it for both boxers. I hope it happens even though it has lost some of its appeal.

Should have happened between 08-10 when both were in their primes. The bout means nothing now in real terms as neither can say they beat the other at their best, all it will do it look good to have it on the record. Anyway Mayweather everyday and twice on sunday if they do fight now, also think he would have won back in their primes but nowhere near as confident.

First off floys such a great defensive boxer don't think manny WOULDA touched him with a bomb in there prime to knock him out , also people forget manny has lost some pop in his right cause he moved up in class tne bombs he landed in lower weight classes don't have the same effect as in floods wright class , Look at "hands of stone " Roberto Duran my all time favorite fighter bar none ,..as a lightweight he knocked pretty much all he faced , then he moved up to welterweight and middleweight and his one punch power was gone , same for manny against floyd if / when they fight . Secondly ...when a boxer meets a puncher and it goes the distance as this most likely will The boxer almost all the time gets the decision becsuse they look better and land more jabs ,. Anyway i to think in tnere prime floyd wins anyway

if it happens itll be a stroll for floyd (ditto if they wouldve fought in their prime). the only chance manny had was if the fight wouldve happened when people actually wanted to see it (5 years ago). i dont care if it happens now. its too late. not sure many boxers would agree with you kalas about style making fights. they wanna win first and foremost. which no-one does better than floyd...

Whwn I said style makes i meant public demand not fighters .......nobody wated to see leanard vs Wilfredo Benitez both master boxers Leanord won , but it was a boring fight between two technical geniuses , now people love to see two brawlers. ( hagler hearns pops to mind ). But the classic big money fights that the public wants to see are the boxer vs puncher. Be it sugar Ray Robinson vs jake Lamatta , ALI vs Frazier , or manny , floyd , that's all I meant ...... As for fighters wanting to win first and foremost , absolutely however the fighters who live the sport , love the challenge , would not agree with that .....until floyd , the two best pound for pound fighters of all time at least they're considered the two best by just about all experts from Burt sugar to Angelo Dundee to ring magazine were sugar ray Robinson ( who most old timers Still say was best ever and Willie pep ) Both of those guys fought there greatest rival.numerous times !!!!! Robinson beat lamoatta 4 of 5 And Willie pep lost to sandy Sadler the most underrated champ ever ..he was 6ft 1 to pep like 5ft4 but pep kept fighting him whether he was champ or not ...... But I know it's a different world. Shame Oh have to edit. Totally agree with your assessment of the outcome of fight if in prime. Floyd easy

Floyd easy agreed, that for the majority of fans, style does take precedent. but personally, i still kinda like watching floyd. hes just so technical and always fights his fight. never gets drawn into his opponents style. thats not to say i dont enjoy 2 brawlers tho. the big shock for me is that most people, including the experts, would take manny in this bout. where as floyds history has shown that pac probably wouldnt get a single good shot in. just goes to show how much floyd hate there really is out there. granted, he is an @sshole, but i dont watch him for his personality...

Yeah. Look my favorite fighter ever is Roberto Duran a bigger scumbag in life in terms of his conduct you won't ever find , he is brutal Know a few spanish old guys from east Harlem where duran would hang out , and they would tell stories of him just being a dickhead .,...but I loved watching him..... As for the fight , I think floyd would win easy and don't get the "experts" either .... Floyd is the best boxer I've seen And unlike leanord who got drawn into durans fight in Montreal , floyd never does as you say ....... He's just a better fighter imo

That was the best era for lower weight boxing ever , around the no mas era .....off top of my head you had Salvador Sanchez who died undefeated and a great boxer and puncher , Wilfredo Benitez a great defensive boxer ( leanards brother in law when they fought ) pipino cuevas a bull for a welterweight until tommy hearns literally laid him out like I never seen anyone laid out ( until he did the same to a old duran ). Tommy hearns , leanard , duran , Carlos monzon ( a beast who retired before hagler arrived , that WOULDA been a war ). And hagler .....it seemed between 1974 - 1982 83 there was always a great lower division super fight , great era

Ive always hated Deion. He always killed my teams. Whether he was on FSU against Miami or Cowboys/Niners he always had big plays against the Giants growing up i was neutral (panthers now), so he was always worth watching. plus the whole 2 sport thing always impressed me. same with bo, whos career is almost mythical...
