This album has, compared to "Messenger", more upbeat songs and some songs are even "radio friendly" (I don't like this term). Great to see that his son and daugher joined for backing vocals and guitar on this album.
Great job again, Johnny. Looking forward to see you very soon again.

I've got to say there are some great tunes on a new record, but The Messenger was better.

Just picked up The Messenger last week. I'm really enjoying it and will be picking up his new album Tuesday. He's coming to Toronto in November, might go check him out. He's done a great job playing songs from The Smiths too. Class.

I'm a big Johnny Marr fan, but guys, listen to this! I've found it hilarious This is my song, I've wrote it in 2011. anyway, the riff is similar to Johnny's "The Trap". Of course, I'm not saying anything, just want to share with you guys! my band (by the way, we are from Zagreb) - Johnny's new track - but then again, maybe I'm talking rubbish... haha

Another great album from Mr. Marr! Can't wait to see him live in little over 3 weeks!

I must admit I'm struggling to get into this. Really liked The Messenger but bar 2 or 3 songs, this one seems a bit like ideas for 4/5 songs have been spread across the whole album. When he gets it right it's great but I find quite a lot of the album fairly dull.

The album as a whole clicked with me last night. The stand out tracks for me are Easy Money, The Trap, This Tension, Dynamo, and Back in the Box. Great record!

This album isn't quite similar to his solo album and I must say that I do miss songs like "Lockdown" and "Messenger", more like typical Johnny sound, but I'm loving this new album as well. Especially love "The Candidate". It's such a beautiful song and Johnny's daughter has done a good job too.

jordan71421, I saw my forever guitar hero last night and he was cool as f**k as always. Setlist from last night: Playland Stop Me If You Think You've Heard This One Before Right Thing Right Upstars 25 Hours New Town Velocity Headmasters Ritual Back In The Box Speak Out Reach Out Generate! Generate! Bigmouth Strikes Again Boys Get Straight The Messenger Easy Money Getting Away With It How Soon IS Now? Encore: Still Ill Dynamo I fought The Law There Is A Light That Never Goes Out It was a great gig. Johnny was in full of energy. It was my 4th time seeing him and also 4th time seeing Moz. Seeing Moz and Johnny in same week (Tuesday and Saturday) meant so much to me, what I could never dare to dream of. I can't tell how I felt when he played the riff from Still Ill at the front of me. Before he started to play "There Is A Light...", he said "This song is for everyone here right now and not for anybody else". It was a great sing along. He'll be in the other side of ocean next week. Have a great time seeing him again, jordan and give my love to him.

I like a handful of tracks off both his solo albums. However, I find them equally solid, not great.

Thanks jordan71421. It was a pity that he didn't play "Candidate" last night, my favourite song from his new album. Support act, Childhood were good.

Lennon2217 it was so amazing to see him again in DC! This was my second time seeing him, and I can honestly say he topped himself from the last gig! This was the setlist: Playland Panic The Right Thing Right Upstarts 25 Hours New Town Velocity The Headmaster Ritual Back In the Box Speak Out Reach Out Generate! Generate! Bigmouth Strikes Again Boys Get Straight Candidate Easy Money Getting Away With It How Soon Is Now? Encore: Still Ill Dynamo Lust for Life There Is a Light That Never Goes Out A great mix of songs from all the bands he's participated in. He's a great front man and his guitar playing is utter brilliance, you're mesmerized by his playing throughout the entire show. (He even used one of my pics from the show I took to thank the DC crowd on Facebook and Twitter!) His opener, Meredith Sheldon, was really great too. She opened for him on his last tour and she has a guitar playing style similar to Johnny. She's really good, you should check her out @ Meredith Sheldon! I cannot wait to see him again!

Cool photos bro! I'm visiting a good friend on Friday whose wife is having a baby and we were going to celebrate. Then we realized Johnny Marr is playing in Asbury Park at The Stone Pony (Oasis played there back in 1994 among many famous acts) the very same town my friend lives in. Place must hold 300-400 people. Gotta now go right? Isn't sold out. What time did opening act and Johnny go on? Easy to talk to him afterwars or is he straight to the tour bus?

YES definitely go dude you won't regret it! And Meredith came on around 6:30 PM and Johnny was on stage by 7:30! I didn't stick around to meet him afterwards because my girlfriend and I wanted to head home but I met a guy who met Johnny earlier that day walking around DC and said he was a really nice guy, and I know that he came out of the club a little under an hour after the show and met everyone so I think you'll have a good chance of meeting him!

Great review and nice pics, jordan71421. (same shirt as Amsterdam. ) I'm not saying just because I'm a huge fan of Johnny, but he's a really nice guy. Very calm and friendly. I was shaking all over when I met him for the first time and dropped his plectrum on the ground when he gave me. He picked it up and said to me "I'll put it in your record sleeve (he signed on my "Bigmouth Strikes Again" vinyl single). Don't loos it". I got an another plectrum from him again this time, so now I have 2 of them. Next to Johnny, these 2 musicians were the nicest: Richard Ashcroft Liam Gallagher I love you too Noel, but you were not even close to these gentlemen above.

Wow, it's absolutely enviable that you've met so many of your idols! And I like how passionate you are, when it comes to people like (especially) Johnny. But saying that on this forum, I suppose a lot of us are that way, which makes this place sometimes feel like home to me Music lovers of the world unite (and take over )

jordan71421 was there a reason Johnny went on so early? 7:30 PM seems odd. My ticket says 8 PM but I assume that's the opening act.
