The problem with Roll With It is that it was a single.

Listen up should never be cut, ever again. It's fine as it is.

The problem with Roll With It is that it was a single. Just for THAT i'm glad it was a single (plus it's not a bad song, a good album track, and unique melody)

I'm gonna take up the cudgels on behalf of Roll With It. It's simple, it's repetitive, it's distorted and badly produced (EDIT: or mastered) and I might agree to the opinion that it's objectively perhaps the worst song on the album. I wasn't too fond of it either for a long time.
Right now, I find myself enjoying it more than any other song on Morning Glory. There's something special about the sentiment it conveys. It also contains some brillant lines: "Kiss the girl, she's not behind the door". That's typical Noel poetry. It's just so blatantly obviously nearby that it took me quite few years to actually realise it's brillant imagery. I love that line. "I think I've got a feeling I've lost inside" is another one that somewhat summarizes Oasis to me. Especially, when you're getting older.
Oh, and haven't you ever caught yourself airdrumming to Alan White's intro? Don't be a liar.

RWI is a very good song, if it wasn't a single (also the infamous Battle of Britpop), people would have been more kindly to this song, sure it has its faults, but still sounds great, and live it's a monster.

Roll with it is the weakest song on the album imo, its fun live but they could have chosen better songs instead of it

Listen up should never be cut, ever again. It's fine as it is. If it were to be included on definitely maybe, which I genuinely think it should have, a minute or more would have needed to be cut. Fade Away is another song that potentially could have been on DM, but Listen Up way more so. I'd say Listen Up is probably in my top 5 Oasis songs

Listen Up starts (and mostly is) like Supersonic.. do you really think they would put both on the same album? could have change it a bit, but no point. but.. FADE AWAY should have been there. (or Strange Thing.. I'm a fan since 99)

I love this album.
There isn't a single song on here that I dislike, it's just that I always forget what Hey Now sounds like. It's not that I don't like it, because it has a good melody and all, I just never have it stuck in my head. I'm also not a huge fan of the Swamp Song, but on the album it really works. It's just awesome how part 2 flows over in the waves of Champagne Supernova.
I also have no problem with Roll With It. Obviously it's not the greatest song ever written, but it's catchy and there's nothing wrong with it. And it did the job, nothing wrong with being #2
I also disagree with most of you on the sound of the album. I for one really like it.
Besides, how could I have any hate for the album that got me into Oasis? I mean, Don't look back in anger, Wonderwall..they're overplayed, but not without a reason.
Just the whole feeling of this album is what I love. It sounds so like..youth.

I would loved to hear how Tony McCarrol would have pulled off the drumming if he played on this album.
Songs like Roll With It, Wonderwall, Don't Look Back In Anger, Cast No Shadow etc...
The album definetely wouldn't have that same breezy feel.

I think Hey Now! gets the beating on the album, but I think it's not a bad song. Later on we had the joys of She is Love and Little By Little as singles. She's Electric is the leakiest song written on the album. The album missed Acquiesce and The Masterplan added. They should've taken out Swamp Song bits and made She's Electric a b-side. It be a perfect album.
1. Hello 2. Roll With It 3. Wonderwall 4. Don't Look Back In Anger 5. Acquiesce 6. Hey Now! 7. Some Might Say 8. Cast No Shadow 9. Morning Glory 10. Champagne Supernova 11. The Masterplan

Others have written here very eloquently on this topic so I shall be brief. DM was the more seminal album because it came along at a time and place when there had really been nothing like it before (since?). MG was absolutely more finely produced, better crafted and definitely more anthemic than DM. Why try to pick? Both absolute gems:)

MG is the greatest hits album, the band at their peak. It is much better than DM, and is my 2nd favourite Oasis album (after BHN). As an album, it is pretty near perfect, with a decent mix of highs and lows, slow numbers and fast ones.
There were so many decent tracks Noel wrote during this period, that MG could have been a double album, packed with classics such as Masterplan, Acquiese, Rocking Chair, Round Are Way, etc.
I think Noel was at his songwriting peak here, moreso than the songs he wrote before DM was released.

The Masterplan I think if you take Hey Now out and replace it with Rockin Chair you have possiblly the best album ever!
