Was good seeing PSG lose. Normally, Id agree with you but when it's UAE that's beating Qatar, I can't really get too excited tbh.

Most Serie A goals in a single calendar year:
33 - Cristiano Ronaldo (2020) 32 - Dusan Vlahovic (2021) 31 - Luka Toni (2005)
Two more games in 2021 xD

It's the least relevant angle of this tragedy, but Russia should be thrown the fuck out off the World Cup playoffs. Yugoslavia were expelled for an ongoing war in the Euros 1992, time for FIFA to show a fucking spine*.
*they won't of course. But I'd rather see Poland qualify on Sweden's expense than Russia.
And yes, the cup itself has no right being held in Qatar in the first place. But someone needs to do at least something about something.

www.nytimes.com/2022/03/11/sports/soccer/roman-abramovich-chelsea.htmlGreat article here. When will the corrupt ownership of clubs in English football end? Only ever a means to an end, a shameful exercise in sportswashing, whether it's Chelsea, Man City or soon to be Newcastle - three clubs that epitomise the state of English football in all its fakeness in only ever buying their success rather than earning it. And then you have hedge fund owners from America muddying the heritage of the clubs who earnt their greatness, whether it be Liverpool, Man Utd or Arsenal whose owners are only in it to sell the product further down the line (these clubs far from innocent from the tawdry money grabbing crookedness of the Super League). Doesn't matter what success these clubs have, interesting that the supporters still cynical about them so the will is there to change it and give fans a greater say. Give it back to the fans and local community ffs. Brentford are a club that are slowly setting an example with their ownership structure, let's hope it takes hold.

Some US media has now been picking this up, but the Rickett family, current owners of the Chicago Cubs are looking to buy Chelsea. There was obvious pushback, and a poll by the CST claimed that 77% of its members don't support the bid at all. Recently, the Ricketts said if they do buy the team, they would never support the European Super League and would explore options of revamping Stamford Bridge. The Ricketts do have a championship under their belt when the Chicago Cubs ended their 108 year World Series drought in 2016.
If I remember correctly, most of the controversy surrounding the purchase was about his comments on Islam.
I have no clue how football fans feel about this, so if there are any Chelsea fans here or someone who has strong opinions about this: What are your overall opinions on the Ricketts being potential buyers of Chelsea and do you think it's a good idea? Would you still support the team if the Rickett deal went through?

Nothing to do with racism (ironic considering the Chelsea fanbase is one of the most vile in world football). They know their days competing consistently are over if the crooked Russian makes way for a consortium not as wealthy. Only way they could compete in such a scenario is if they poach Klopp or Guardiola, which will never ever happen.

So, who's winning on Sunday? Kick off is 1130pm my time, so I'm hoping for an open game to keep me awake. 2-1 Liverpool is my shout.
