Congratulations to the rich russian oligarchs expensively assembled English team on narrowly beating the even richer arab sheikhs expensively assembled English team in a game held in Porto at the behest of the not quite as rich bloodsuckers in suits from uefa, advice to all football fans: turn your back on these fuckers, don't go back to the stadiums, stop buying their shitty merchandise, go and give your money and support to the part time players in the lower leagues, the people who actually give a shit about the game

No title since Maradona stopped playing, they always failed to perform in his shadow. Less than a year since Maradona died, they win again, after 28 years. How ridiculously symbolic is that?

Cannot believe it’s been since 93. Madness.
That first international prize for Messi after so long too. Delighted for them.

Messi is now the only player to be best player, have the golden boot, provide the most assists and be the champion in international tournament history. He's the GOAT and it's not even close. Any debate is just media hype for clicks and retweets. So happy he's been able to win an international trophy at last, never seen a player even remotely on his level and he deserves it fully. Also great times for other Argentina veterans like King Kun, Otamendi, and the fabulously talented Di Maria. I don't hate the guy nearly as much as most, but it was fun to see the highlights of Otamendi clattering Neymar for ninety minutes, too.

So eva, is Scaloni the real deal as the manager? Last time I saw him he was playing cameo roles for West Ham in 2006. Always seems like there's an ideological battle between those who support a more attractive, attacking philosophy against those of more defensive and structured approach. Will be interesting to see how he gets on in the World Cup next year.

Will be interesting to see how he gets on in the World Cup next year. God, it feels he's just clueless and figuring things out as he goes. And somehow they managed to win this He was Sampaoli's assistant coach in Russia 2018. After that flop everybody left but him. it was supposed to be temporary but he stayed. Apparently he managed to assemble a good group of players and something switched in the changing room He gets criticism because you won't see pretty football. You see he has the players to go for a confortable win but it's always 15-20 minutes full throttle and then just wait, defend and play counter attacks. to be fair, I'm not being all that impartial because I absolutely love Kun Agüero and Scaloni doesn't have a place for him so that kinda puts me off

It's about time innit? 28 years, and not for the lack of opportunity cos Argentina had a lot, the Maradona's curse, Argentina would only win something again if Maradona died.
Too bad things doesn't look too bright for south american teams, they are all far below average, I've saw some Euro matchs and european teams are so far ahead, no joke, Italy, Germany, Portugal, France, England, Belgium... are all far superior, better tactics, better attack, better defense, more agressive and more organized, even teams like Hungary and Austria plays better.
It's official, Brazil sucks, Tite has to go, worst team in a long time, it relies too much on Neymar, he's the only one who can't think outside the box but of course he won't solve all the problems alone, he is surrounded by mediocre clowns on the pitch, Argentina at least still has Messi and Di Maria, Uruguay Cavani and Suarez.
Qatar 2022 will be a massacre for south american teams, they all won't pass beyond the round of 16.

there's a different dynamic in European football it's like they play half speed over here, and the fear of losing is bigger than any will to win the same happens in club football. most matches are such a borefest

Australia are far worse, yes they're playing well but have only played minnows in qualifications for Qatar 2022. The leap between minnow and Goliath is huge.

Hibs Arsenal thoughts (Arsenal fans look away, especially you Beady’s Here Now) 1) Why did it take Arsenal 82 mins to score? 2) MacKay looking better than ever 3) If Pepe is booed because of the miss, shut up

The tikka-takka of the last 10-15 years being replaced by a fast moving, attacking style of play. Teams moving the ball forward much quicker, players actually running with the ball. Italy leading the way into the new (old) style of play. I’m sure all the South American countries will follow suit eventually,

Rumours of Grealish to City for £88m, will only happen if City sell Bernardo to a Spanish club, likely Atletico Madrid. Grealish is quality but £88m seems step - I suppose the "home-grown" tax adds another £13m, though. I honestly think he's a fantastic player, but I have concerns about how he'd fit in Bernardo plays mostly on the right, I wouldn't sell him either but I can understand it given how Pep likes Mahrez and Ferran needing more minutes, but Grealish prefers playing on the left, Foden plays there, De Bruyne gravitates towards that area of the pitch and there's still Sterling It doesn't make much sense to me, would rather direct that money towards a striker and a proper holding midfielder

Getting spicy on Twitter, this. Villa fans give any report of Grealish being close to leaving a mountain of abuse. One of them literally dared a City journalist to bet £1000 for a children's hospital on it. Mental scenes. Villa sources saying he's gonna sign a big new contract, City sources saying the transfer is "all done but the paperwork". Bernardo not returned with the other Portuguese players to Manchester. Looks like a move for him and Grealish is the most likely option but there is gonna be a lot of fucking fighting whatever happens. Wasn’t he extremely popular in the NT because he was so loyal to his club?

Wasn’t he extremely popular in the NT because he was so loyal to his club? Not really, he's just a bit of golden boy with his cheeky smile and flair football and marketability. No-one sensible thought he was loyal after seeing how he went from being Irish to being English once his talent became apparent - except Villa fans, of course, who seem to have thought that he put a faith clause in his last contract because he was devoted to staying forever. They're now at the "acceptance" phase of the grief cycle, I think. Should be a City player within 48 hours.
