Really think this song is the "odd one out". It doesn't sound like the rest of the songs from the era. I think it was maybe written to be sung by Liam.
I think it might be the only HFB's song I can think of that would be much improved if it was sang by Liam.
agree?

it sounds like it could have been on heathen chemistry in my opinion. That's because it probably dates back to that era of the band.

All the b sides from HFB sounds like they are from other sessions. but this one dates back a few good years, it was mentionned in 2003 by Noel if i'm not mistaken.

too forced beatles alike in my opinion. it can't be forced. something might have came up on the acoustic and he knew it sounded like the beatles but did he ever give a shit? as good as he thought the song was, he included it as a b-side, nothing more. think it fits well in the set and it's nice to see him playing a solo, since he doesnt play most of them anymore

Oasis had always tunes, that felt kind of familiar, because they borrowed melodies or something, but they always made something, that sound like Oasis out of it. But this is too blatant in my opinion. Yes its a B-side, so it is ok, but its one of the few b-sides written by a gallagher, that I had never come back too^^

haha that's good. but I think it's just too obvious to people. people love to see beatles in Noel's songs and Noel knows it. he's played it that way since the early days. so I don't see why always the big ceremony when Noel rips off the Beatles. it's nothing more than any other pop song... but Noel knows how to get in peoples mind...people are easy. he'll make a beatles reference.. and people will go fucking MAD. fuck man.. he's come up with the Masteplan. he really had one!!

But what about my main point! Stick it on and imagine Liam singing it instead! now, would it not be much better with LG on vocals??!

This song's all right for me. Not my favourite, but it's not a bad one. I would have preferred more performances of other songs like A Simple Game of Genius over The Good Rebel during the HFB tour though.

Some of the lines definitely recall some of Liam's most well-known vocal deliveries, like the opening "Rain, like rain, I don't care for the sunshine" (imagine "sun-shiiiiine" like in Rock n Roll star ). It probably would be better with Liam's vocals. But this is a case of would have, could have, should have.

I love The Good Rebel aside from the opening "RAAAAAAIIIINNNNNNNN!!!!!!!!" etc. I think if it didn't have that it would go up that much higher in my enjoyment of it That being said, it was great live

Yeah, just came to mind how better this song would sound with Liam on vocals. Could've this been written around the DBTT times? I know two different people wrote the two songs but this and Keep the Dream Alive sound strangely alike.

Can imagine so. Got “Liam doesn’t have that much power in his voice anymore but he can still snarl like hell and we’re gonna exploit that” written all over it. Come to think of it, this song must be a sibling of All in the Mind.
