Underrated: Pixies The Pixies are often cited as one of the biggest influences in modern alternative rock, yet somehow are never listed amongst the big boys. Bands like Radiohead, Nirvana (& countless more) often cite them as being amongst the best, yet it's very, very rare I see them charting in anyones top 10s. In my opinion their small back catalogue more than matches any other band out there. 'Surfer Rosa' and 'Doolittle' are often described as classics, however 'Bossanova' and 'Trompe Le Monde' are often ignored when really they're just as good. I'd even argue 'Trompe Le Monde' is better than 'Surfer Rosa', and 'Doolittle' is the only album I can safely say I think is better than Oasis's 'Definitely Maybe'. Easily my favourite band. Bonus 'Somewhat Interesting Oasis Fact': Noel Gallagher came up with the name 'Champagne Supernova' whilst drinking champagne and listening to the Pixies 3rd LP 'Bossanova' at the same time. True story. Apparently.
Mclusky Mclusky only ever produced 3 studio LPs and 2 of them are fucking mega. Album 2, 'Mclusky Do Dallas', has the honour of being my favourite album of the noughties. Also the band with some of the the greatest track names and lyrics ever. Successor band 'Future Of The Left' are pretty amazing too.
Oasis Naturally.
