Lot of media here today tipping Roy to be in as number 2 if O Neil gets the job.
Absolute box office if it happens. I don't think the country has recovered yet from the Saipan fallout.

I like Martin, he's a good manager and I think he would do well for the team. The other one is a terrible human being who would preferably never be involved in football again.

The other one is a terrible human are you gonna back up this assertion?

The other one is a terrible human are you gonna back up this assertion? Yeah. He was a nasty bastard on and off the field. He broke someones leg on purpose, an offense you or I would have quite possibly done time for. He left his country at a world cup. He assaulted a teenager....etc. I'm sure there's more I don't remember tbh. Total wanker.

If you are referring to the Alf-Inge Håland incident, Håland finished the match and started a game 3 days later. It was an injury to his other knee that did him in later. I'm not condoning what he did at all, but he appears to have not even injured him, never mind break his leg. Also, the teenager that he was accused of assaulting cracked under pressure in court and was found to be lying about the whole assault incident.

Alf seems to think it ended his career and I'd say he was the best judge. So Keane ended another mans career because he believes in an 'eye for an eye'. Top man. No he wasn't convicted but at the very least he was getting into rows with 16 year old's and the he wasn't found to be lying. The judge, after the enjoyment the teenager got from the attention found he couldn't totally trust his testimony. Anyone who doesn't think anything happened even knowing a little bit about Keane is crazy. www.theguardian.com/football/2005/mar/01/newsstory.sport5

A left knee injury later ended his career. Also, "District Judge Paul Richardson said the student had been exposed as a liar during the two-day trial. He added: "As a witness he was unsatisfactory, he was caught out as a liar, notably in relation to the chain but perhaps in several other perhaps less significant areas." " So in conclusion, no, Roy Keane did not break someone's leg and physically assault a teenager.

But he seems to think it ended his career and I can't see what it gained for him. Maybe you should should email him and tell him he doesn't know which knee is which. How on earth would you know if he didn't have a bigger problem with the other one. Keane admitted in his book that he set out to injure Haaland that day: 'I'd waited long enough. I f****** hit him hard. The ball was there (I think). Take that you c***. 'And don't ever stand over me sneering about fake injuries. Even in the dressing room afterwards, I had no remorse. My attitude was, f*** him. 'What goes around, comes around. He got his just rewards. He f***** me over and my attitude is an eye for an eye'. Oh yeah top man.~ Well believe what you want. I think he got off with it because the teenager was a total idiot. So I take it was Mick Mcarthy's fault that walked out on you during a world cup?

Yes, I will email him and tell him that I agree with his originally assessment (before trying to change it to make money - which obviously didn't end well for him).
"Following the release of Keane's autobiography in 2002, Håland and Manchester City stated that they intended to take legal action against Keane. However, it emerged that Håland had already admitted on his personal website that he had been playing with the injury to his left knee a few months, that it did not receive a knock in the game, and that Keane did not cause his injury. Legal action was dropped in February 2003 after the club reviewed the medical advice."
Oh dear...

i can't see keane being an good assistant he very much seems to be a my way of no way kind of person. As for the debate in this thread he has been and at time continues to be a dick but that is not the same as being a 'terrible human' i think that language is extreme.

Roy's a hero here in his hometown of Cork. Even people who have an issue with him over some of his comments or the Saipan fallout would never knock what he does for charity around here.

Do you know what - I fucking LOVE Roy Keane, and this is from an opposing fan who takes an immense dislike to Man Utd.
They don't make players like him anymore. Every footballer would quake in their boots, even team mates. A lone ranger, a rebel, everything about him was unique.
A fierce man who stuck to his principles whether it got him into trouble or not, a massive contrast from the usual thick loutish chavs that litter football today. Yeah sure, he's got a temper, but he's one of the most sane men in football what with his common sense and disbelief at some of todays characters.
I've always loved seeing Ireland do well, but I'm worried about the lack of quality coming through the ranks now. I hope the dream team of O Neill and Keane can pull off wonders. Though I still hope Keane is on TV to put silly pundits and Adrian Chiles in their place.

O'Neil plays football from the dark ages. Keane should stick to the punditry.

O'Neil plays football from the dark ages. Keane should stick to the punditry. Ireland are in the dark ages again and imo need a man like O'Neill. I'm a huge Keano fan, he was right about Saipan but should of never of walked out. He should be the right kind of person to kick the current squad up the hole and move them on to a decent campaign as O'Neill hopefully keeps him for saying/acting something stupid. With all the stars of the late 90s/early 2000's retired(/ing}, Ireland have no standout players and have been overly reliant on these players past their peak. And as for all this Alfe Halland bollox spouted by every anti-Keane anytime his name is popped up.... (well this smiley with his eyes pointed to the sky)

(well this smiley with his eyes pointed to the sky) I find it pretty amusing how people blatantly make stuff up like that. I might start it too just to join in on the fun. I hear Alf's leg fell off after the Keane challenge. He then drowned a bunch of puppies in the river and cheated on his wife. And that was just in 1 afternoon. What a scumbag.

Apparently Mick McCarthy didn't get the gig for a second time for the simple reason that he was too damn sexy.

got fucked over by the euro draw Not really - Pot 1: Germany - Can't expect an easy tie from the top seeds, (You could possibly say Bosnia or Greece) Pot 3: Poland - On paper the toughest out of the lot, but drew 0-0 out there a few months ago, rest of the teams (including these) around our level Pot 4: Scotland - Although they are improving still should be at least 4 points from two games Pot 5: Georgia - A team who we have always beaten Pot 6: Gibraltar - the new boys - 30k people in the "country", whipping boys no doubt. Hopefully the ghosts of Ireland's past against shit teams doesn't reappear under the new management. With the top 3 teams qualifying (or playoff for the "worst" 3rd place teams) there should be no reason to panic with the group. Tonight's friendly against Serbia should be a good indication of where we are, and I am quite looking forward to this campaign

Suppose, but we will never be happy with our group! We should hold our own against Poland and Scotland should be beatable both home and away. I'll exclude the Germans for obvious reasons! (won't be as bad as the last time tho!)
