Just been watching the Hillsborough memorial service at Anfield on BBC News.
Very emotional, and two heartfelt and great speeches from Roberto Martinez and Brendan Rodgers. Merseyside can be very proud to have two great men managing their clubs.
As Martinez stated to those who covered up this great injustice - 'you took on the wrong city'.
A time when football rivalries are put aside in Merseyside, the respect of both clubs and fans epitomised the unity of the city. I thought it was awe-inspiring
RIP 96.

Come on lads! Let's get back into the top 4 for at least 24 hours....
This is why this sport is so superior: There's mini-leagues all over the place: The title race, the CL (Top 4) race, the Europa League race, the relegation battle, etc....
So unless you're smack dab right in mid table, there's always something to play for. Must be dead boring supporting a team in the 10th-14th (or so) places.
I wish the Americans would adopt such a system, but all they seem to care is the commercialization of sports. Sigh.

Exactly. Ask Swansea or Southampton fans about mid table positions after coming up from the Championship - hardly think they'd see that as boring. Or a mid table finish for Spurs isn't seen as 'boring' for the fans, it's seen as disastrous - not boring. If you take it in the context of each club, then how can it be boring?

P.S. Anyone know why Man Utd haven't played this week or mid-week?

Wow, just wow.
Highest paid sports team in the world, and after a defeat against Liverpool, you'd expect them to come back with a bang. I really expected a trouncing of Sunderland. Highest paid sports team... ph dear, this spineless bunch need to give their annual wages to charity.
And I'm not saying that to revel in this - the Man City fans are saying exactly the same and are going ballistic on the phone ins.

As much as I want Liverpool to win to league I feel Mourinho and his Chelski players know-how will see them win it this year.
I went for Chelsea at the start of the season so I'm not going to change now. I think they'll win all 4 of their games (including of course Liverpool at Anfield), Liverpool will finish 2nd and City 3rd with Arsenal 4th,
Whatever happens a remarkable achievement by Liverpool

I hope Liverpool wins it. Gerrard deserves it. And Suárez is the best player in the island!

I wouldn't mind City win it (even though I obviously prefer Liverpool) but if Chealsea win it... I can't even imagine.. This being said, it's not a farfetched scenario. I see Chelsea getting a result at Anfield, Liverpool chocking up somewhere else on the road and lose it all. I really, really, really hope that doesn't happen thought. It's going to be a long next 4 weeks!

I've said it pages ago: Citeh were never going to win the league with the amount of goals they ship. It is a very perplexing one, though, why they go hell bent on attack but don't give a toss about defending. It's now between Liverpool and Chelsea. As long as Maureen doesn't win it, especially in his comeback season, I'll be happy. Liverpool more than deserve it in any case. The league table truly doesn't lie - they have been by far the best team and very consistent this season.

Liverpool even has conceded 1 goal more than Arsenal Their attack is just só damn great (arguably the best in Europe) that that doesn't matter too much... (Or let's hope it doesn't at least... :/)

I see Chelsea getting a result at Anfield, Liverpool chocking up somewhere else on the road and lose it all. I really, really, really hope that doesn't happen thought. It's going to be a long next 4 weeks! It just has to be Liverpool - if people for one minute put bias aside, then only Liverpool winning is good for football. Chelsea or Man City win with their continued buying of success is bad for football. A list which could go on and on as to why Liverpool trounce everyone in terms of deserving the league. This is the Liverpool model for all football managers in the league to follow... 1. Play attractive attacking football - there's a reason it's called 'The Beautiful Game'. 2. This is the English Premier League, so GIVE A CHANCE to British players. Liverpool's many starting XI's include a team that consists of Gerrard, Sturridge, Sterling, Flanagan, Allen, Henderson mixed with continental players and many young British talent waiting in the wings. Who'd have thought we'd be raving over Flanagan and Henderson's performances? 3. Some expert coaching improving seemingly average players. Henderson has been amazing this year, and Flanagan came from nowhere. 4. Work your way to success, do not buy your way to success and the hard work of Rodgers and a not much changed squad from last year has seen them jump from 7th to 1st. Add injuries and suspension to a lighter squad meaning Rodgers has been forced into tactical and formation changes that Mourinho and Pellegrini can just easily swap a player like for like. Outwitting teams, rather than outbuying teams. 5. Give youth players a chance. Liverpool have the youngest squad, and the work that has been put into the youth setup has earnt praise from Guardiola who says Liverpool's system is second to Barcelona. 6. That little bit of determination goes a long way, and helps mentally. Liverpool may not have the quality of Chelsea and Man City but their mentality far outshines the talented - though prima donnas - of squads of their richer peers. You could go on and on. But what's unbelievable is that Brendan Rodger's was a student of Mourinho when Rodgers was a youth coach and then reserve coach at Chelsea. So, Jose - are you listening to your former student? Because, quite simply, if Rodgers pulls this off, this will far surpass everything that he has ever achieved in the game. It will be up there with the Invincibles of 2004 and the Treble Winners of 99 (that Man Utd is, for me, the finest British club side of all time). I love the way they play because the fundamentals of football for me has always been to make it exciting. That is the essence of football. That is why teams like the Netherlands, Germany, Brazil, Argentina, Barcelona, the old Liverpool side of 70s/80s (and who knows the '10s), Fergie's Man Utd, Brian Clough's Nottingham Forest, Jock Stein's Celtic, Wenger's Arsenal (at their peak I might emphasise) and Klopp's Dortmund all live long in the memory of football fans. They strike a chord with the footballing purists in a way that Mourinho and his teams are the complete anti-thesis. Success is one thing, immortality is another. The side that shows the most innovation and attractiveness is always the one that deserves to win. Liverpool's restrictive finances compared to the richest has forced them to be innovative while playing by far the most scintilating football I've ever seen in the league since the Invincibles. It would be criminal and a very sad day for football if they didn't win the league.
