i'm actually not mad about the ending. but i'm mad about how they got there. this must be the most poorly written final season of anything ever. i cant believe how they rushed through the plot while butchering established character developments. it feels like there is at least a whole season missing, a whole season that could have helped to explain danys downfall, brans motives, jaimes return to cersei, THE FUCKING WHITE WALKERS AND THE NIGHT KING WHO WAS NEVER MENTIONED AGAIN. you know, all of it. absolutely mindblowing how badly executed this season was So many characters were just... around. Tyrion stopped being at all intresting last two seasons, apart from killing the Night King Arya did fuck all(no one ever references it, she never brings it up, it's like it literally never happened. Absolute SHIT SHIT SHIT writing. Why didn't they make her a part of the plan to take down Cersei, using someone's face? Because then there would be no cool dragon CGI), and why not awkwardly bring back Bronn for three episode because...? Bran did what with all his magical powers? He sent crows once or twice to annoy the Night King. Don't even mention Jon Snow, the absolute bore of a character. He did his honorable thing of letting the wildlings in, after that he was nothing but a naive moron. For the sake of the show he should have stayed dead. And Sam, wasn't he kil... oh, I almost forgot that he bravely fought off those terrifying zombies with no fighting skills whatsoever. But hey, we must protect the good guys! Such an anti climax. I can't believe how frustrating it must be for people who watched this for years, for it to end up like this. yeah its because they squeezed two full seasons worth of material into four episodes basically. season 8 should have been all about the long night, the night king and his motives. a devastating war in which winterfell had to be abandened or whatever, but they dealt with it in one fucking episode. which ruined the whole mystery and story to me. all that foreshadowing throughout the years for absolutely nothing. then season 9 should have been about jons claim to the throne, dany going mad, the endgame with cersei and most importantly what the fuck bran is all about. was it his plan to get the throne? because that would kind of make him the bad guy in the end?! its all so god damn frustrating because i do like where the story went but it was so badly executed that it fucking sucks

Just watched it. Of course it was far from flawless, but the ending did make me emotional, I have to admit. Now about those last 2 books, pretty please?! 😁

I rewatched the episode. AND ... I liked it. I actually found it fitting for basically all the characters.
Still don't think Bran of all characters quite earned the crown. I mean, they literally left him out of a season and barely gave the character any attention in season 8. And so it didn't feel right at all for his story to be the most interesting one for Tyrion to bring up. And I get the purpose of that scene in episode 2 now. But wouldn't it have been better to show Tyrion asking Bran questions, Bran filling him in, especially on details we weren't aware of? So that later on, when Tyrion makes his speech for Bran and his story to be the thing earning him a kingship, we the audience might be more well-primed to accept it? It's a minor thing of course. I guess my main complaint is that the person who got the crown was an individual we never realized was even playing the game.

I would say that's a major thing, and the main reason why the last two seasons were so badly executed. The plot was rushed and dumbed down, and as a result things that happened lost their impact. How are we supposed to feel about Bran becoming king when his character has been largely ignored for two seasons? How are we supposed to feel about anything? To me everything just stopped to matter after the third episode, and I just watched to finish the show. Those writers really managed to destroy something great.

Pretty much everything after season 5 has been dreadful, bar the odd episode and I actually think ep 1-3 this season were decent but I liked the show for it's believable characters and engaging dialogue, that all went out the window after that for plot and massive battles when these guys couldn't copy the books anymore. I've been rewatching the old seasons for the first time while waiting for episodes from S8, the difference is....stark

Hot take here: i didnt quite like the ending with Todds relatives. Should have been all about Hank vs Walter White.

But after Dany arrived in westeros they didnt know how to wrap up the story and started to rush through the plot. That let to awful writing and storytelling. If the last two seasons were on the same level as 5&6 i think i wouldnt be that disappointed.

Hopefully that score will just keep on dropping... last season is enough reason for the overall rating to be within safe distance from a nine.

The collectors edition looks nice. I really hope they have extra scenes they left out during season 8. But considering it's not the point of advertisement, I don't think they have much of any leftovers. Then again, they aren't likely to release extended editions first anyway. If they have extra scenes which they've saved for an extended release, we probably won't see it 'till December 2020 at the earliest. Fingers crossed we do though.
And maybe finally we will get to see the original pilot episode at some point.

The last series was so shit I sold all my blu rays of previous seasons. Will never rewatch them now I feel the same. Season 8 broke my heart. Years and years of build-up, of laughter, tears, despair and happiness, after falling in love with many characters and their arcs and passionately hating some others, my favourite show ever got ruined completely.

They rushed thru the final season so they could get to their Star Wars movies and then they got taken away from them. Oh the irony.

I'm glad I waited almost a year to watch season 8. With everyone saying how terrible it was I had extremely low expectations. Because of that I enjoyed it.

Question: What in all honesty apart from taking his helmet off did the Mountain actually do to Unella? It wasn't my initial rape thought.
