You know MacaRonic that's the problem now the bpl is huge biggest in world seen everywhere ...fergie was grandfathered in he had success before it went truly truly global ya know ?? I used to be one of the few who had a footy kit here supporting city Now I see kits everywhere Big money came in and personalities and instant success is needed rather than tactics and shrewd decisions , those are forgotten if you don't win ...united let fergie mold the team and look at the result ...yet that won't happen again ...owners don't get you can let beckham walk away or transfer because it makes footy sense , they just care about how many kits he moves in Asia Pathetic Agreed One of the main things that is missing nowadays not just in football but in life is TRUST. No-one trusts anyone anymore. It's all about the Diamonds. Beckham created this from that goal he scored from the half way line in 96 wearing predators .. Adidas owned him from that point and there was the cool Happy Mondays Adidas advert but until now all his transfers were adidas flag ship clubs

Manchester City can only hope that Roberto Mancini was the Buck Showalter in the club's history and a Joe Torre is out there to guide the ship when the waters get deepest and turbulent! Also, the Yankees traded away basically their entire farm system from 1996 to the mid 2000s to acquire top talent (Tino Martinez, Roger Clemens, Chuck Knoblauch, David Justice, etc). Their farm system has been in ruin. Cano was the last home grown Yankee and that was from 2005! As a result of a poor farm system they spent and spent and spent and spent (Giambi, Mussina, AROD, Sheffield, Johnson, Damon, Matsui, Clemens, Pettitte, etc). It didn't always end well for them. 1 Championship in 10 years. Can never happen its a different world ..... There can be no show alter at city he be sacked year one when they finish 4 th for playing with young talent and joe torre would sacked once a euro crash followed by no domestic glory ensues ..so is life when you play in the blue half of Manchester , always having to keep up with red half ?its sad but true A lot of people feel Buck was robbed of World Series glory because of the 1994 strike. The Yankees and Expos were clearly the best teams in the league. They were headed to an epic World Series showdown. Could have helped Montreal keep a team down the road. Who knows. Buck helped develop all those players and they talk about his influence till this day. Guys like Jeter, Rivera, Bernie, Pettitte, Posada. The core guys he helped draft.

Over here we're used on having managers sacked after a few months It doesn't surprise me City let Mancini go, the team wasn't exactly responding. He made some weird choices, the whole Balotelli incident, out of UCL on first round, dismissed the Europa league, lost the FA cup final... I thought Pellegrini was a done deal, wasn't it? I heard about it a couple of days ago...

Then Rafa will step up That could happen but the reason why it probably won't happen is because Rafa has never been successful in the League. Finishing 2nd with a record points total at LFC was pretty successful, it went downhill after that due to the owner situation but he deserved the chance to turn it around, no doubt in my mind he would have won the league given more time. City could do a LOT worse than Rafa, he would be great for them IMO, but from what im hearing its gonna be the Malaga boss, Manuel Pellegrini.

Mancini got screwed. This guy delivered a lot for this club. - Champions League - FA Cup Title - EPL Championship Not bad for a 3.5 year run. Sure his spendings should have been wiser but City is relevant finally. ^This. Sure they lost badly to Wigan in the final but 'Bobby Manc' has done great things. A mistake to sack him IMO. CTID

I understand City fans' affection for Mancini, given that he delivered their first trophy and league championship in over 40 years, and under those circumstances a trophyless season can be forgiven, even with the resources available to him.
However, it's worth noting that he'd have stood a greater chance of keeping his job had he not ostracised himself by publicly criticising his players, staff, or the club's directors every time someone thrust a microphone under his nose.

CTID 2 seasons in the CL and yet to make it out the group stages, won the league last season with the last kick of the game, almost threw it away when they should have had it won much sooner. And losing the FA cup to Wigan to top it off. He's done ok i would say, not great by any means considering the squad they have.

Finishing second is NOT successful for Liverpool, not in my eyes anyway. That was a great season but I don't like to think about it because we're so far away from where we were then it's not even funny and we should of won the League that season but we drew too many games because Rafa was too cautious.

The owners (H+G) are to blame, after finishing 2nd we should have pushed on but Rafa was working with his hands tied behind his back, after selling Alonso for 30m he should have been given the money to replace him properly, instead of having to do a deal for Aqua which was spead over 3 years because the rest of the money went towards the owners interest payments. All i know is if Rafa was still in charge, i highly doubt we would be where we are now.

He may well of kept us in the top 4 but my point was that 2nd was and never will be good enough for Liverpool FC. If you think it is then fair enough but I don't agree. We had the ability that season to win at least a few of those 11 draws but Rafa always left it to late to make a change. Defensively that season we were unbelievably good and most of the time we had the right balance between attack and defense but when teams like Fulham came to Anfield and parked the bus Rafa never changed his tactics bit the bullet and put on a second or third striker like all the great managers did when they have a team on the ropes. Sometimes that needs to be done but he was never brave enough. He was a very good manager for us and I have some awesome memories but most of them are from the Champions League, he was obsessed it and a lot of his decisions were head scratchers - the whole Alonso situation for example but I'm not going into that now.

A fantastic manager, one of the best in the world for me. We were completely fucking stupid to sack him, my opinion on that will never change. I sense that is not how you see it, so i respectfully disagree mate. We didn't win the league but he did a LOT of great things with us, enough to have survived one bad season, a season in which we still nearly made another European final. I can only imagine what Rafa would have been able to do with all the funds Kenny and Brendan have had, as i said we would be a lot better off right now. That ship has sailed though, but if we can't have him back then i would like to see what he could do with that City squad. He would clean up in my own opinion.

No question In today's day and age when you get a open checkbook like he got , and make questionable team selection , have questionable tactics , don't get on with some players or press , and don't pay entertaining footy like there neighbors. ...if you don't win every year at least one trophy your job is in jeopardy and if you don't play the type of footy the board wants well then .... It may not be right , but its the way of modern footy Personally I think they won despite him not because of him and don't mind new ideas running city on the pitch

His leauge win was by seat of pants , and the money and team he had at his disposal meant glory or bust , and goingtrophyless is a bust these days for city , As stated before his tactics and team selection have been in question since day 1 and his relations with players , tevez , Mario , just to name a few hurt him , a change was needed ... If reports now on both sides of the pond are to be believed its pelligrini s job to turn down , but who knows ?

They did have an epic 8 point comeback and did win the league though. 19 other teams didn't. They had to over come a lot that season. Injuries to Silva. Red Cards for Kompany and Balotelli. The Toure brother's month long adventure in Africa. Once every healed up, they made history. Before Mancini there was darkness. He helped to turn on the lights.
