Saw New Order last night in New York and could've sworn that their guitar tech was Jason Rhodes...Is he no longer w/ Noel on recent shows? If it wasn't Jason, it was definitely his long lost twin.

Well, I guess that confirms it. I'd imagine there must've been a falling out for them to part ways after 18 years? Another one bites the dust...

these roadies and other tour production staff usually have other bands that they work for. Not saying the didn't fall out cause I'm sue he got a great paycheck and was friends with Noel but it is how the industry works. One of my professors in college is on tour with Robert Plant right now in South America but he does stuff with Keith Urban and some other country artists.

Yeah but they were mates and he'd been on every tour for Noel? I don't think he was your normal freelance roadie.

No but I mean he would never be doing anything else when Oasis were touring. That was his gig. Which is why I find this strange.

I was also wondering what happened to Jason Rhodes. I saw him at Usher Hall & Roundhouse in 2011 but he hasn't been at the 2012 gigs. Watching the International Magic Blu-ray, I noticed Noel had a different guitar tech at the O2. Shame if they've fallen out.

Could be that he set aside the time for the original HFB gigs then booked himself other gigs for Noel's off time which should have started after the sumer festivals, I think, if they hadn't added the extra arena dates and American Tour. The HFB tour has been extended a couple of times. May be as simple as it just start cutting into the time that he had already contracted to someone else. He may not have done this to Oasis...but I think Oasis tours were pretty predictable in length so I don't it was ever really put to the test. Or maybe Jason broke Noel's guitar (the one that died) and he was fired.

Back in Milwaukee in April I noticed Jason wasn't around and had asked one of the other roadies about it. Apparently Jason got axed shortly before that for what I was told was alcohol related incidents. Guessing he was partying a little too much.

At the UCLA gigs Noel did back in Fall 2011 I spoke with Jason he seemed super chilled. Fast fwd Oct 2012 I was at the New Order gig at the Greek theater in Hollywood and I could sure as hell swear I saw Jason. Security was too thick and wasn't letting ANYONE get close to the stage/pit area without a pass. He's probably just taking a real vacation to go off and have kids raise his family. Considering he's been rocking and rolling with Oasis for nearly 20yrs, this is probably his first real vacation since. If indeed he did part ways with Noel, I wish him the very best. Super sound guy the times I met him.

I was wondering the same. I only saw him at the gigs in 2011 than Mickey Winder did his job as Noel's guitar tech. Funnily Mickey is working for Robbie Williams now

Although I guess it is alarming that Jason Rhodes hasn't been with Noel for a while (and especially if 'oasisish' post is correct), here is a little known fact; Jason Rhodes was actually a roadie for New Order before he got involved with Oasis, so it could be he's simply stepping in and doing some work for them again. Peter Hook from New Order actually mentioned Jason (and the fact that he had been a roadie for them) when he presented Oasis with their awards at the Q Awards in 2000, so it's definitely Jason you've seen.
Having said that, it would be really sad if Noel actually fell out with him as well. I have jokingly said that Jason Rhodes have seen more Oasis-related gigs than any of the Gallagher brothers, and it's not far from the truth.
Best regards, Joakim

I saw New Order yesterday in Vienna (awesome, btw!) and saw Jason Rhodes on a list of personnel (I know that name! Quite unforgettable, his contribution to "Supersonic"), as guitar technician. Interestingly, also Shan Hira, as sound engineer. Of course, Hira has a history with New Order as well, I just wonder if he left Liam's team for good or just for this leg of the tour.

Saw this video of the BLT / Vanishing Point combo from the tour and it looked amazing! Wish I had the time and money to see them right now. It was really great! I did not mind the non-hit-setlist, as I have already seen them play that in, I think it was, 2012. So it was a boon this time getting the not so often played songs. The best part for me was "Disorder" into "Ultraviolence". Joy Division songs played live make me go cross-eyed with pleasure every time anyway and "Ultraviolence" live was an absolute killer, in the best possible way. But the whole show was really awesome and it is always fun watching the uncoolest frontman ever, Bernard Sumner, dad-dance. Nice jibe towards Peter Hook while intruducing the band, Tom Chapman, "a nice bassist". But, Hooky got his revenge (no pun!), as today I was looking for a recorded live version of "Ultraviolence" to buy and could not find one by New Order, so I had to buy one of Hook's & The Light live albums. I got no horse in that fight (?!), love both of them and enjoyed both bands live immensly.

Noel was on Matt Morgan's podcast (Podcast 148, and can be found on Patreon) at the end of 2023. He mentioned firing the person who looked after his guitars, I assume to be Jason. He said "The guy who looked after my guitars from day one, I had to fire him about 10 years ago". Following on from this, he talks about his guitar inventory being a mess and when he finally got everything back together there were guitars missing (one of the guitars he played at Knebworth, for example). He further said "I've got a guitar tech now who looks after them properly".

Sounds like Noel doesn't have anyone from the early days around him any more.

A shame that it got missing, I wonder where it is now... a legendary guitar.
