To keep the trend that has developed over the last 6 years, here's the official Arsenal thread. If anyone's keeping track at home, Arsene is ok in my mind as of right now. That will, of course, change - several times over!

the loosing mentality will continue into next season, without the defence he inherited wenger has shown he his an average manager. He didn't inherit the invincible's defense, did he? He built that. Lehmann, Lauren, Campbell, Toure Cole Also, that's an illogical argument in any case. Look at Chelsea and all the managers in the last 3 years who inherited a strong squad but ultimately failed (see AVB for the most recent example).

i never said there was only one way to fail, i wouldn't use chelsea as an example in your case as the manager won the champions league on a team he inherited.

Good old Arsène doesn't deserve shitty double-faced fans like you.
I hope Arsenal fight for the league. I expect Cazorla and Giroud to be key.
Btw, what do you think of Song going to Barça? Do you people think it'll happen? What's the word in England?

2 years in a row they have sold a player they knew was going to leave towards the end of the transer window. would be intrested to know how musch extra they made in these deals compared to if they had gone with what they had been offered towards the opening of the transfer window.

Ross, you say Wenger's an average manager? Ignorance of the highest level there. He hasn't won anything in ages but his record does speak for itself, and unlike the majority of teams who have won the league (and mostly every Man Utd league win), he never once 'bought' his titles, instead operating a shrewd business in the transfer market. And again, do you even know how he transformed Arsenal?
Look at the record of clubs across Europe who have built new stadiums and you'll see a trend where all of them have fallen below the wayside - the fact that Wenger and Arsenal are competing in the Champions League every year has got to be praised - every one had them down as certainty's to miss out every year, so thank goodness that trend has stopped. And with the FFP rules, they're bound to be safe and it's a model every club should be following, including Man Utd, who are quite frankly playing a dangerous game. With Wenger beginning to flex his muscles again in the market, he will be able to once again turn Arsenal into a title challenging force. If he fails, then it will be time for him to move on, but to say he is average really is a pathetic statement.

^ haha, those comments had been aimed at getting a reaction, but not from you. ;D But do you really believe he's an average manager? Let's remember the league is so highly competitive so to get CL qualifying every year is impressive actually, considering the amount other teams have spent. And I still can't think who would be a suitable replacement for him.

I think they should give david moyes a go.

People in Spain think it's too much money. From what I've read, people in London think it's a bargain.
What do you guys think?

he will be a big loss for arsenal and is worth a lot more to them than he will be to barca, as for the value it's proabably a about right as it's a five year contract.

Song really came along well - he was utter shite early on. He's still a bit aloof, even though I did like him. But that much money for him is ridiculous! I'd take that, and, with Arsene's sight for talent, re-invest with a fantastic and even better replacement.
Something tells me Song will be wasted at Barcelona - see Hleb as an example. Song is by no means world class, and I do question Barca's desire here - their loss, Arsenal's gain, really.

barca can afford him as a bench warmer arsenal without a replacement will be a little thin.

Think they may be getting that Sahin, though Liverpool were in for him aswell, with Xabi Alonso persuading him to join his old club. But I'm pretty sure Arsenal are in pole position, because selling Song on the basis that Sahin would definitely join is so risky. I think Arsenal will come third again this year, no mean feat but a respectable place again considering they could have spiralled downwards like Chelsea and Liverpool. Stability is key for teams like Arsenal, so that's why I think getting rid of Wenger would be so so stupid. Looking at Liverpool and Chelsea, they would kill for that sort of stability.
First will be Manchester United, RVP by far the best player in the league last season - if he can come close to his performances last season and convert the missed opportunities of United last year, then it will be much more straightforward this year. Soulless Man City will come second and their owners will sack Mancini.

Why are you so mad at City? Its beginning to seem a bit obsessive and weird. I don't think RVP was the best player last season. He scored lots of goals sure but I think the most influential and impressive player last season was David Silva without doubt.

It's obviously a moot point, and wouldn't have worked out this way regardless as the players being sold dictated those brought in, but just imagine:
Carzola, Podolski, Giroud alongside Fabregas, Nasri, Song, and van Persie
Now that's a title winning side right there.
Ugh, Arsene, why do you frustrate!?

My grandpa was an Arsenal fan, is was connected with a story, that Arsenal gave Sparta Praha (his favourite czech team) the first dresses centuries ago. My other two friends are also big fans, one since the Bergcamp era in the 90s, the other one since Henry era later on. I am a fan for not a long time, i was kinda influenced by them, when i was searching for a team to support in England, since Beckham was gone... yeah, i was always more into players, than teams. I supported Juve, cause i love Alex and Paja Nedved. I supported ManUtd in the late 90s, cause i adored Beckham and Schmeichel, i supported Penguins, Rangers, Philly and now Dallas, only the seasons when Jagr was on the rosters... kind of shame, but what can you do:-/ anyway, what do you expect from Rosicky this season? I am czech and i used to like him, sure, he is a genius and can be the game winning force, when he is not ill, bud after he played just one game on the Euro (again!) and then got injured, i am just fed up with him and i admire Arsenes patience. Still, it is more reasonable in an 60+ games a year with so many good players, that can jump into the game instead of him. But why our national "manager" is still building the team around him, thats a big questions...

Diaby was surprisingly very good today, he drove the team on. Podolski looks good too, and tracks back very well. I am worried about Giroud, though. He's now missed two identical clear goal scoring chances (vs. Sunderland and vs. Liverpool) where he somehow blasted the ball wide. He seems to be possessed by Chamack.

I thought Vermaelen played well today. Good to see Liverpool beaten.
