one of the last teams you'd expect to find in admin Honestly it has been coming for the last few years. The old board / Chairman has run the club into the ground. New owner hasn't helped the situation with some of his decisions but with a potential tax bill and penalties ranging between £50-75million there is no choice but to contemplate going into administration. A meeting with HMRC this week to see if a deal can be done so they don't loose out either may be the only way to stave it off. I know the club has had a lot of issues with sectarianism and a bad nasty element in the support and won't get a lot of sympathy but there are a vast majority of good, long time fans who love the club and feel helpless in not being able to help due to the structure of shares so we have to hope for the current board to pull us through one way or the other. Not the best day to be a fan of Rangers today.

This is the fucking greatest thing ever. God Bless HMRC So take it your not a real sports fan then? As much as I hate LUFC the last thing I wanted was them to go bust when they was in that much trouble a few year ago. The banter and rivalary between teams is what makes following sports teams so fun and the reason we watch sports, if you took Rangers away from the SPL then believe me, Celtic will suffer as well. I might get hammered for saying this, but without Rangers there won't be Celtic FC, the following will be the same in Scotland but the oversea's following and commercial investment will hamper Celtic. I used to love watching the Old Firm derbys when I was a kid, really sad day when this happens. Football people need to run football clubs!

Just cancel Scottish football and let's be done with it. I'm sure 99% of Scottish football fans have already got a second team anyway.

Probably about the same % of Manchester United "fans" then eh? Yes, probably. 5% of 300 million is still quite a lot though, isn't it?

Yep, that's a lot of glory hunters. I'm afraid your mockery is wasted on me, I'm from Manchester you see. And I'm also well aware that United have an above-average contingent of fairweather supporters. I'd probably moan about them if I were a season ticket holder, but as I'm presently boycotting Old Trafford I'm actually somewhat glad we've got a plentiful supply of gullible spendthrifts willing to help United keep their heads above water until the Glazers get bored and we can have our club back. It must be about four or five years since someone called me a gloryhunter, mind. And people say football's changed!

Your first comment on this thread was arrogant beyond belief. Aye, lets just end Scottish football and be done with it eh, while we're at it why don't we just close the EPL too since it's just an American franchise these days.

Right i'll be a wee bit more level headed.
It would of course be a MASSIVE loss to Scottish football, and would probably make Scottish football lose even more credibility. However, there are many who despise them and what they stand for. The only thing i'd personally miss is the Old Firm games.

The only thing i'd personally miss is the Old Firm games. Rangers aren't going anywhere. The worst-case scenario is that Celtic dominate for a few years whilst Rangers rebuild. There are clubs under much greater threat, namely Portsmouth and Darlington.

Rangers appear to be completely screwed. Going by White's history I wouldn't be surprised if this was his plan all along - run the club into the ground, set up a NewCo and transfer all the assets (Ibrox, Murray Park etc etc) to the new club. If they do go bust and a new club appears, they should be made to start at the bottom of the pyramid and work their way up again. Couldn't happen top a nicer club.
